Job Title: Plumbing and Heating Engineer

Salary: £18.00 Per hour
Location: Our factory is situated in Lytham St Annes, travel is from our central base in our fully stocked install vans to addresses
Shift: Monday to Thursday 07:30am -17:45

We’re recruiting a plumbing and heating engineer to design, install, commission, maintain and repair air source heat pump systems for residential, commercial and industrial properties.

We’re looking for a driven candidate who has a strong understanding of low –temperature heating systems and able to provide excellent customer service while ensuring the upmost efficiency in our projects from start through to completion.

Installation:

  • Install air source heat pump systems in both new and existing buildings.
  • Install unvented cylinders and sign off under G3 regulations
  • Ensure all installations comply with industry standards, building regulations, and health and safety guidelines.
  • Complete the hyrdaulic and electrical requirements of an Air Source Heat Pump installation
  • Work with other trades (e.g., electricians, plumbers) to integrate the heat pump systems with existing heating systems and controls.

Commissioning:

  • Conduct commissioning of newly installed air source heat pump systems to ensure they are operating efficiently and as designed.
  • Perform detailed system checks, calibrate controls, and adjust settings to optimize system performance.
  • Ensure that all components, such as compressors, pumps, heat exchangers, and sensors, are functioning correctly.
  • Provide training to clients on system operation and provide technical support during the commissioning phase.
  • Ensure that the commissioning process is fully documented, and relevant certification is provided to the customer.

Maintenance:

  • Perform routine servicing and maintenance of installed air source heat pump systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues, performing repairs as necessary.
  • Conduct system checks to verify that air source heat pumps are operating efficiently and within their specified parameters.

Repairs:

  • Diagnose faults with the air source heat pump system and identify the necessary parts or repairs.
  • Replace or repair non-refrigerant related failed components (e.g., probes, fans, valves) as required.
  • Ensure that all repairs are completed safely and in a timely manner.

Compliance & Documentation:

  • Ensure all work complies with relevant industry standards, regulations, and manufacturers' instructions.
  • Complete accurate records of work carried out, including service reports, commissioning documents, and health and safety assessments.
  • Ensure that systems are certified and meet relevant energy performance standards.

Health and Safety:

  • Follow all relevant health and safety guidelines and risk assessments to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with local building codes and legal requirements

General

  • The role does not come with personal van, all work vehicles, with fuel cards, are provided from a central location, Global Energy Systems Factory (FY8).
  • Work arrangements will vary, sometimes you will be working coordinating a team travelling to projects installing our air source heat pumps, while other periods travelling alone to commission, maintain and repair previously installed air source heat pumps
  • You’ll expand your knowledge of heat pumps and associated systems including design through to commissioning.
  • Majority of work is within the Lancashire area, however our customer base is UK wide and travel with occur to carry out tasks above alone and as a team from time to time. All travel and accommodation is covered by the company

Your skills and experiences:

  • You’ll have extensive experience installing boilers and wet heating systems including copper pipework and radiators, air source heat pump/ low temperature design experience is essential.
  • You’ll be an experienced plumbing and heating engineer with knowledge of heating system design as well as domestic hot and cold-water system knowledge.
  • You’ll have the ability to challenge system design that is presented to you and adapt during the dynamic environment of an installation.
  • You’ll have basic fault-finding experience of wet systems and basic electrical knowledge.
  • You’ll be confident making site specific conclusions to help deliver installations on time and to a high standard.
  • Relevant qualifications in heating, plumbing or renewable energy (E.g. City & Guilds NVQ Level 3 in Heat Pump Systems or equivalent)

Desirable Skills/ qualifications

  • Water regulations
  • G3 hot water qualification
  • Gas Safe
  • Strong understanding of air source heat pump systems and associated heating systems
  • Proficiency in diagnosing faults and performing repairs on air source heat pumps
