You should be:

Exceptionally respectful and dignified in your approach to deceased people

Mature, calm and emotionally resilient

Practical and confident working with your hands

Meticulous with excellent attention to detail

Comfortable working in a mortuary environment

Able to follow strict procedures and maintain accurate records

Interested in anatomy and the technical aspects of deceased care

Capable of dealing appropriately with difficult and sensitive circumstances

Willing to study and undertake professional qualifications

Looking for a genuine long-term career rather than simply another job

For a successful employee who demonstrates the required ability, attitude and commitment, we intend to support professional embalming training.

This will involve learning areas including:

Anatomy and physiology

Embalming theory and practice

Embalming chemistry

Specialist preparation techniques

Suturing

Presentation

Restorative work

Management of difficult and complex cases

Our objective is to develop the successful candidate into a highly competent professional embalmer capable of taking significant responsibility for standards of deceased care within our funeral home.

What We Offer

Starting salary depending on experience and suitability

Full-time permanent employment

Structured mortuary training

Professional development

Funded embalming training for the right candidate

Salary progression as competence and professional qualifications develop

Long-term career opportunity

The opportunity to become an important member of an established independent family funeral business

Important

Mortuary and embalming work can be physically and emotionally demanding.

Applicants must understand that the role involves direct contact with deceased people in many different circumstances, including people who have died following illness, trauma or post-mortem examination.

The highest standards of dignity, confidentiality and professionalism are expected at all times.

We welcome applications from people currently working outside the funeral profession who believe they have the maturity, practical ability and personal qualities required for this specialist career.

How To Apply

Please provide a current curriculum vitae together with a short covering statement explaining:

Why do you want to work specifically in mortuary care and ultimately train as an embalmer?

We are particularly interested in understanding why you believe this is the right long-term career for you.

This role offers a meaningful career path with opportunities for professional growth. We value dedicated individuals who approach their work with compassion, integrity, and a proactive attitude. If you’re ready to make a difference while building a rewarding career in embalming, we encourage you to apply!
