Dental Practice Manager (Operational & Performance Lead)

Deu Dental Care – Leeds (Headingley LS6)
£40,000 base + performance bonus (OTE £50,000)
Full-time (35 hours per week)

About the Role

Deu Dental Care is seeking an experienced Dental Practice Manager to take ownership of operational performance, team management, and compliance within a busy NHS/private practice.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who understands how a dental practice runs day-to-day and can bring structure, consistency, and improved performance to the team.

You will work closely with the Principal Dentist but will be expected to manage the practice independently on a day-to-day basis.

Initial Focus (First 90 Days)

The successful candidate will be supported to focus on:

  • Improving chair utilisation and diary efficiency
  • Reducing FTA (fail to attend) rates
  • Strengthening treatment conversion and private revenue
  • Embedding KPI tracking and reporting processes
  • Ensuring the practice remains compliant and inspection-ready
  • Building structure, clarity, and accountability within the team

Key ResponsibilitiesPractice Operations

  • Oversee the day-to-day running of the practice
  • Ensure efficient scheduling, patient flow, and diary management
  • Identify operational inefficiencies and implement improvements

Business Performance

  • Monitor KPIs including utilisation, conversion, FTA, and revenue
  • Use data to drive improvements in performance
  • Support growth in private treatment and overall revenue

Team Leadership

  • Lead and manage the dental team on a daily basis
  • Set clear expectations and maintain accountability
  • Support recruitment, onboarding, and performance management

Compliance & Governance

  • Maintain compliance with CQC, HTM 01-05, GDPR, and H&S
  • Ensure audits, policies, and documentation are up to date
  • Support a structured and compliant working environment

What We’re Looking ForEssential

  • Previous experience working within a dental practice
  • Experience managing teams and day-to-day operations
  • Good understanding of dental practice workflows and patient journey
  • Comfortable working with KPIs, targets, and performance data

Systems & IT

  • Experience with Software of Excellence (EXACT) or similar
  • Confident using reporting tools and digital systems
  • Able to work in a structured, data-driven environment

Personal Attributes

  • Organised, structured, and reliable
  • Able to manage a busy environment and prioritise effectively
  • Confident communicator with a practical, problem-solving approach
  • Willing to take ownership and follow through on tasks

Role Expectations

  • This is a hands-on role within a busy NHS/private practice
  • You will be expected to take responsibility for daily operations
  • The role requires initiative, organisation, and accountability
  • Support will be provided, but the ability to work independently is essential
