Full job description
Shape the future of maternity care at Bristol NHS Foundation Trust.
As we prepare to launch our brand-new Maternity Triage unit this summer, we’re expanding our team. If you’re a dynamic, forward-thinking experienced Band 6 Midwife, join our team during this time of growth and innovation.
With a fabulous co-located Midwifery Led Unit at St Michael’s Hospital alongside another at Weston Hospital, you’ll experience the benefits of a busy city centre specialist unit as well as the exceptional care we provide for low-risk birthing people at our Weston site. Community Midwifery Teams provide dedicated support for those choosing to have a home birth.
You will rotate through a variety of clinical settings:
Our commitment to your professional development includes a comprehensive orientation programme, supernumerary support and dedicated practice development guidance to help you thrive in your role and beyond.
This position requires post-registration experience and is therefore not suitable for newly pinned Midwives who have not yet completed their preceptorship year.
Be able to demonstrate leadership and management skills
Be flexible with a caring attitude, rotating throughout the maternity departments and to be a part of the on-call service we provide.
Have excellent and extended clinical skills
Be able to develop clinical skills and participate in continuing their professional development.
Have experience in solving problems and using initiative.
Have the ability to take the lead when caring for women and their babies, identifying any deterioration from normal and escalating appropriately.
Be able to communicate and work together in a multidisciplinary team.
As a unit we are proud to acknowledge the importance of personal development, and the support and guidance required in enabling self-confidence and belief to strive towards the next goal. We focus on providing the opportunity to gain appropriate experience to enable progression to band 7. We offer band 7 secondment posts within the unit, where you will feel supported and guided by familiar colleagues that you would have built a rapport with through your band 6 experience.
Bristol NHS Foundation Trust brings together more than 28,000 staff to deliver over 160 clinical services across thirteen hospital locations, operating from three main sites at Southmead, Bristol city centre and Weston.
With an annual turnover of £2.3 billion, we are now one of the largest NHS trusts in the United Kingdom. Our hospitals are spread across Bristol and Weston, join us and you can enjoy the very best of both worlds; city living within a stone’s throw of the countryside or beside the seaside, both with easy access to all that the South West has to offer.
Bristol NHS Foundation Trust values all people as individuals. As an equal opportunities employer actively working towards a diverse workforce we aim to recruit and retain a workforce which represents the rich diversity of the local population at all levels and are committed to designing our services around the needs of individual patients and those around them. Anonymous information will be used from your application in order to ensure we’re meeting our pledge.
