Full job description
Joining Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust as the Perinatal Mortality and Morbidity Lead Midwife offers a unique opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a forward-thinking and ambitious maternity service. Our Trust is committed to delivering safe, compassionate, and evidence-based care, with a strong focus on continuous learning, quality improvement, and innovation. This role provides the chance to work closely with experienced multidisciplinary teams who are dedicated to improving outcomes for women, babies, and families, while shaping and influencing maternity services across the organisation.
Gloucestershire Hospitals offers a supportive and inclusive working environment where professional development is actively encouraged, and staff are empowered to lead change. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to contribute to strategic maternity safety initiatives, work with senior clinical leaders, and play a pivotal role in embedding learning from reviews into everyday practice. Combined with the benefits of working in a Trust that values collaboration, wellbeing, and career progression, this is an exceptional opportunity for an experienced midwife seeking a rewarding leadership role with genuine influence and purpose.
The post holder will provide specialist midwifery leadership for the Trust’s perinatal mortality and morbidity review processes, ensuring robust, timely and high-quality reviews in line with national standards. The role requires a high degree of autonomy, professional judgement and multidisciplinary influence in complex and sensitive situations. The post holder will lead thematic analysis, triangulate learning from multiple governance sources, provide assurance to senior leaders, and support the translation of findings into measurable service improvement across maternity services.
We take pride in placing people at the centre of everything we do, working together as a united team. Driven by a shared ambition to continually grow, develop, and learn, we recognise and value every contribution. By combining our experience and skills, we not only support our vibrant, diverse communities, but also support one another.
With a team of over 9,000 employees, we are proud to be the largest employer in Gloucestershire and rank among the top 10 largest Trusts in the South West region. By joining our Trust, you will benefit from an excellent package that includes exclusive benefits, flexible working opportunities and the chance to gain valuable experience in one or both of our innovative hospitals.
As well as generous annual leave allowance, you will have access to the excellent NHS pension scheme, competitive bank rates, discounts at local shops and restaurants, access to two on-site nurseries, discounted public transport, reward and recognition and a range of health and wellbeing initiatives to support you.
