Full job description

To provide a reliable and professional delivery service for prescriptions and other pharmacy items to patients in the local community, ensuring safe handling, confidentiality, and excellent customer service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collect prepared prescriptions and other items from the pharmacy for delivery.
  • Deliver medications to patients’ homes, care homes, and other agreed locations.
  • Obtain signatures and proof of delivery where required.
  • Handle items securely and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Follow all pharmacy protocols regarding controlled drugs, fridge items, and urgent deliveries.
  • Ensure deliveries are made promptly and efficiently within agreed timeframes.
  • Maintain good communication with the pharmacy team about completed and pending deliveries.
  • Provide excellent customer service and represent the pharmacy in a professional manner.
  • Adhere to health and safety guidance, including safe driving practices and manual handling.

Requirements

  • Full UK driving licence and access to a reliable, insured vehicle.
  • Smartphone to receive delivery schedules/updates (if required).
  • Good knowledge of the local area.
  • Excellent time management and organisational skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to handle medicines responsibly and maintain patient confidentiality.
  • Right to work in the UK and self-employed status (responsible for own tax and NI).

Hours & Commitment

  • 3–4 days per week (days flexible depending on business needs).
  • Number of hours will vary depending on the number of deliveries required each day.

Payment

  • Self-employed basis: payment will be per delivery round or agreed daily rate.
  • Driver is responsible for fuel, vehicle upkeep, and tax/NI contributions.

Additional Information

  • Training will be provided on pharmacy protocols, handling of medicines, and confidentiality.
  • Enhanced DBS check may be required.
  • Uniform/ID badge provided if necessary.

Job Type: Freelance

Pay: £12.30-£12.50 per hour

Expected hours: 10 – 16 per week
