Lead Intelligence Professional (Trading Standards Wales)
National Trading Standards funds a network of intelligence analysts across England and Wales. The Welsh Intelligence Unit has been hosted by Newport City Council since 2006 and plays a key role in supporting intelligence-led Trading Standards activity across Wales.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, highly motivated intelligence professional to join our friendly, hardworking and supportive team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for analysing intelligence submitted by Trading Standards professionals and partner organisations, producing intelligence products that support managers and officers in making informed, intelligence-led decisions. The role requires close collaboration with intelligence analysts, investigators and enforcement officers across regional and national networks.
This is an annual contract that is expected to be renewed each year.
Key Responsibilities
You will:
Utilise a range of analytical techniques to deliver intelligence-led outcomes relating to consumer and business detriment.- Interpret and evaluate information from a wide variety of sources to produce strategic and tactical intelligence assessments on emerging trends and threats within the Trading Standards remit.
- Prepare intelligence products to support the regional tasking and coordinating process, providing the link between operational and intelligence functions.
- Disseminate intelligence and analytical products to Trading Standards professionals and partner agencies.
- Participate in regional and national networks to support and develop Trading Standards intelligence capability.
About You
You will hold a degree, or an equivalent qualification, in a numerate discipline, or be able to demonstrate significant relevant experience in an intelligence or analytical role.
You will also have experience of:
Data research, manipulation and analysis.- Working with complex datasets to identify trends, patterns and intelligence opportunities.
- Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
- Producing intelligence products within a law enforcement environment.
- Using the National Intelligence Database and applying the National Intelligence Model in the production of intelligence assessments.
