Job Description
Start here. Grow here.
Due to a rapidly growing portfolio of projects across our Environment and Energy business, an exciting opportunity has opened for a Senior Planner to join us! You will provide project scheduling, programme controls expertise, and technical support across AECOM’s Environment & Energy portfolio, supporting the successful delivery of complex infrastructure, energy transition, and environmental projects.
The role is responsible for developing, managing, and maintaining integrated project schedules, coordinating delivery programmes, monitoring performance, and providing high-quality programme management insight to project teams, clients, and stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
Here’s what you’ll do:
Project Planning & Scheduling
- Develop, manage, and maintain integrated project schedules for complex environmental, energy, and infrastructure projects.
- Establish and maintain baseline programmes, including work breakdown structures, logic sequencing, key milestones, dependencies, and critical path analysis.
- Support project teams with programme development, progress measurement, forecasting, and schedule updates.
- Monitor progress against approved programmes, identifying variance, trends, delays, and opportunities for improvement.
- Identify critical activities, delivery risks, constraints, and required mitigation actions.
- Prepare programme reports, dashboards, and schedule analysis to support project decision-making.
- Support change control activities through assessment of programme impacts, mitigation measures, and recovery planning.
- Provide schedule input into project bids, proposals, and business development activities.
Programme Controls & Delivery Support
- Support Project Managers and Delivery Leads with effective programme management and project controls.
- Maintain accurate project schedule information and ensure timely reporting of progress, performance, and forecast outcomes.
- Support progress reporting and continuous improvement of project planning processes.
- Work collaboratively with engineering, environmental, commercial, and delivery teams to improve programme certainty and project outcomes.
Enjoy the Perks.
At AECOM, you'll enjoy a range of core and personalised benefits designed to support your future and well-being, customised to fit your lifestyle. Take advantage of career development opportunities, our flexible hybrid working model to ensure a work-life balance that suits your lifestyle, technical practice networks, AECOM University, and volunteering days.
Qualifications
Ready to push the limits of what’s possible?
Here’s what we’re looking for:

- Experience developing and managing integrated project schedules using recognised planning tools such as Primavera P6, MS Project, or equivalent.
- Strong understanding of project delivery lifecycles, programme controls, and risk management principles.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary project environments.
- Strong analytical, organisational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
Ideally you'll have:
- A Degree qualification in Engineering, Environment, Project Management, or a related discipline.
- Experience working within NEC contract environments, including programme management requirements, change control processes, early warnings, compensation events, and contract programme submissions.
- Experience supporting projects within sectors such as:
- Renewable energy and energy transition, including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), data centres, critical infrastructure, grid infrastructure, and utilities.
- Environmental delivery programmes, including projects involving Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) requirements.
- Major infrastructure consenting programmes, including Development Consent Orders (DCO).
- Decarbonisation and sustainability initiatives.
- Experience with earned value management, schedule risk analysis, progress measurement, and project controls reporting.
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering and environmental delivery teams.
- Commercial awareness and experience supporting client-facing project delivery.
