Lead a proper Irish pub in the heart of Salisbury!

We're looking for an experienced, passionate and energetic General Manager to take the reins at The Cloisters, our Irish-inspired pub in the centre of Salisbury.

Think perfectly poured Guinness, roaring rugby crowds, live sport across multiple screens, exceptional real ales and a fantastic fresh food menu. We're bringing together everything that makes a great Irish pub: genuine hospitality, a lively atmosphere, great food and drink, and a real sense of community.

We're looking for someone who understands that a brilliant pub is about more than what's behind the bar. It's about the people, the atmosphere and creating somewhere guests want to return to time and time again.

The Role

As General Manager, you'll take full ownership of The Cloisters, leading your team and driving the commercial success of the business.

You'll be responsible for creating an exceptional guest experience, building a strong team and establishing The Cloisters as one of Salisbury's go-to destinations for sport, food, drink and entertainment.

Your key responsibilities will include:

• Leading from the front: Building, developing and motivating a brilliant front-of-house team that delivers genuine, warm and memorable hospitality.
• Creating the atmosphere: Making The Cloisters the place to be for rugby, major sporting fixtures, live entertainment and great nights out.
• Driving sales: Identifying opportunities to grow revenue through sporting events, food, drinks, promotions and local engagement.
• Delivering great food and drink: Working closely with the Head Chef to ensure our fresh food menu is delivered consistently, alongside exceptional Guinness, quality real ales and a fantastic drinks offering.
• Managing the numbers: Taking ownership of your P&L, labour costs, stock management, GP, budgets and overall profitability.
• Building a community: Developing relationships with local rugby clubs, sports teams, businesses and regular guests to create a loyal customer base.
• Planning for success: Organising match-day experiences, sporting calendars, seasonal events and promotions that bring people through the doors.
• Maintaining standards: Ensuring the pub operates to the highest standards of cleanliness, licensing, food safety, health and safety, and company compliance.
• Developing your people: Recruiting, training and mentoring your team, creating a positive culture where everyone takes pride in what they do.

Who We're Looking For

We want a General Manager with personality, confidence and a genuine love for the hospitality industry.

You'll ideally bring:

• Proven experience as a General Manager or an experienced Deputy Manager ready for the next step, preferably within a busy, wet-led or food-led pub.
• A strong understanding of pub operations, commercial performance and financial management.
• A passion for live sport, particularly rugby, and an understanding of how to turn major sporting fixtures into memorable guest experiences.
• A real appreciation for excellent beer, perfectly poured Guinness, real ales and quality pub food.
• The confidence to lead a team, set clear expectations and hold people accountable.
• Creativity and enthusiasm for events, promotions and building a strong local reputation.
• A hands-on approach, with the willingness to get stuck in when the bar is three deep.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• A commitment to delivering outstanding customer service, even during the busiest services.
