About the opportunity

This is an opportunity to register your interest in future SDET opportunities within a technology-driven environment, roles that could support the delivery of high-quality software across modern cloud and microservices architectures.

Roles of this type may sit within collaborative engineering teams working on APIs, microservices and distributed systems. The work could involve designing and maintaining automated testing frameworks, implementing CI/CD quality gates, and working across multiple technology stacks including .NET, Java, Python and cloud platforms such as Azure, AWS and GCP. You could have scope to influence how quality is embedded into delivery pipelines and to mentor other team members in testing best practices.

Typical role overview

  • Location: London, Greater London, England
  • Type: Contract · Full-time
  • Rate: £450–550 per day
  • Domain: Quality assurance · automated testing · test automation engineering

What you would do

Typical responsibilities could include:

  • Writing test code in languages such as Python, Java or .NET to validate complex application behaviour
  • Building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with quality gates and automated test execution
  • Collaborating with development teams to define testability requirements and implement testing strategies
  • Troubleshooting test failures and identifying root causes in production-like environments
  • Working with containerised systems, Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
  • Supporting data quality validation and testing across data pipelines
  • Documenting test frameworks, test cases and automation standards

What you could bring

Most roles of this type require the following:

Must-have

  • Strong experience designing and implementing automated test frameworks
  • Proficiency in at least two programming languages, such as Python, Java or .NET
  • Working knowledge of APIs, microservices and distributed systems testing
  • Experience with CI/CD tools and building quality automation into deployment pipelines
  • Familiarity with containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes) or cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP)
  • Understanding of SQL and relational databases
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent professional experience
  • Authorization to work in the United Kingdom

Nice-to-have

  • Experience with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform
  • Knowledge of SAP systems or enterprise application testing
  • Exposure to data pipeline testing and data quality validation
  • Experience with test management or quality management systems
  • Familiarity with Linux and Bash scripting

What roles of this type could offer

Most roles of this type offer the following, dependent on the industry and seniority of the role:

  • Opportunity to work on quality infrastructure that impacts system reliability and user experience
  • Exposure to modern technology stacks, cloud platforms and distributed system architectures
  • Scope to shape testing strategies and raise quality standards across delivery teams
