About the role

Simply Green Landscapes is looking for an experienced, reliable and hardworking Grounds Maintenance Operative to join our team.

This is a hands-on role for someone who takes pride in their work, has a good eye for detail and understands what is required to maintain grounds and outdoor spaces to a consistently high professional standard.

You will work across a range of sites throughout Berkshire and the surrounding counties. The role involves physical outdoor work in all weather conditions, operating grounds maintenance machinery and working independently as well as part of a team.

This is not a suitable role for someone without previous grounds maintenance, landscaping or closely related experience.

Job Overview

Responsibilities

  • Perform landscape maintenance tasks such as mowing, pruning, planting, and weeding to keep outdoor areas vibrant and healthy
  • Operate a variety of power tools including trimmers, blowers, and lawnmowers safely and efficiently
  • Use hand tools for planting, edging, digging, and other groundskeeping activities with precision
  • Maintain irrigation systems to ensure proper watering schedules and troubleshoot issues as needed
  • Operate heavy machinery such as excavators for larger landscaping or construction projects
  • Conduct routine inspections of grounds to identify maintenance needs or safety hazards
  • Assist with construction or installation projects related to landscaping or outdoor facilities
  • Perform general groundskeeping duties including litter removal, pathway clearing, and seasonal clean-up tasks

Skills

  • Grass cutting and lawn maintenance to a professional standard
  • Hedge trimming, pruning and general shrub maintenance
  • Weed control and general grounds upkeep
  • Leaf clearance and seasonal maintenance
  • Operating, cleaning and maintaining commercial grounds maintenance machinery and equipment

Applicants must have:

  • A full UK driving licence - Important: This role requires regular use of company vehicles. Due to our vehicle insurance requirements, applicants must be aged 21 or over and hold a full UK driving licence. Unfortunately, we are unable to consider applicants who do not meet these requirements.
  • Previous experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, gardening or a closely related role
  • Experience using grounds maintenance equipment and machinery
  • A good understanding of health and safety
  • The ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Good physical fitness and the ability to undertake manual work throughout the working day
  • Excellent timekeeping and attendance
  • The ability to work unsupervised and manage your own workload
  • A strong work ethic and pride in the quality of your work
