Ashcroft Nursing Nursing Home - Activity Coordinator

24.5 Hours @ £13.00 per hour.

Shifts: 9am till 4pm (weekend on and off)

Two week rota: 4 and 3 shifts each week.

Activities Co-ordinator Job Description: typical responsibilities:

  • Organise and coordinate activities for active daily living.
  • Organise an activities program that will maintain interest and progression over a period of time.
  • Identify the needs of the collective group and individuals and tailor the activities to suit them.
  • Activities need to be in conjunction within the rules of the company employing you and your environment eg. From the home manager, restrictions from the environment you are working in, leisure Centre rules etc.
  • Encourage involvement from the local community to attend your activities.
  • You will need to be a committed, patient and caring person with a sense of humor and a positive outlook on life.
  • You will also need to be highly motivated and have excellent communication skills to deliver your activity programs to a range of people.
  • You will need to be able to work well in a team and liaise with other staff, volunteers and residents.
  • The main aim is to improve the intellectual, physical and overall health of the people in your care.
  • Some jobs may require you to work flexible working hours.

What qualifications do I need to be an Activities Co-ordinator ?

If you have a big personality and enjoy helping people then this could be the job for you: There are no actual qualifications to work as an activities coordinator, however, personality plays a massive part and if you have a wide range of practical and creative skills eg. arts, crafts, etc this can assist in getting you the job. More importantly for these jobs you will need to have excellent communication skills, be highly self-motivated and have a high level of self-confidence. Previous experience in working with people in your chosen area eg. the elderly, can also help improve your chances of getting that activities coordinator job.
