We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Farm Shop/ Restaurant General Manager to oversee daily operations at our rural farm shop and restaurant. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring exceptional customer service, maintaining high standards of food safety and quality, and leading a dedicated team. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage a unique hospitality environment that combines retail and dining experiences, fostering community engagement and promoting local produce. The ideal applicant will possess strong leadership skills, a passion for food and hospitality, and extensive experience in restaurant management.

Duties

  • Oversee the daily running of the farm shop and restaurant, ensuring smooth operations across all departments
  • Manage staff schedules, supervise team members, and provide training to uphold service standards
  • Coordinate food preparation, cooking, and presentation to ensure high-quality offerings that meet health and safety regulations
  • Supervise food production processes, including kitchen operations and catering services
  • Maintain excellent customer relations by addressing enquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring a welcoming atmosphere
  • Implement health and safety policies, including food safety protocols and hygiene standards
  • Manage stock levels, order supplies, and oversee inventory control to minimise waste and optimise profitability
  • Develop menus in collaboration with chefs or culinary staff, incorporating local produce where possible
  • Organise promotional events or special offers to attract visitors and increase sales
  • Ensure compliance with licensing laws related to alcohol service (if applicable) and other relevant regulations

Requirements

  • Proven experience in restaurant management or hospitality leadership roles, ideally within a farm shop or rural setting
  • Strong background in food preparation, cooking, and culinary arts with knowledge of food safety standards
  • Supervising experience with team management skills; ability to motivate staff and foster a positive working environment
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to multitask effectively under pressure
  • Knowledge of food production processes, kitchen operations, and hospitality best practices
  • Experience in serving customers in a fast-paced environment with a focus on exceptional service delivery
  • Leadership qualities with the ability to inspire confidence among staff and customers alike
  • Familiarity with managing stock control systems and inventory management software
  • Previous experience working in hotel or barista roles is advantageous but not essential
  • A passion for local produce, sustainability, and community engagement is highly desirable
