About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional hospitality professional to join our team as Deputy General Manager.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is already operating in a strong Assistant Manager, Senior Assistant Manager or Deputy Manager role and is ready to take the next step in a busy, food-led hospitality environment.

The successful candidate will have the confidence, experience and leadership skills to run the venue in the absence of the General Manager, while maintaining excellent standards across service, team performance, stock control, rota planning and guest experience.

We are looking for someone who does not simply manage a venue, but truly lives and breathes hospitality.

Key Responsibilities

As Deputy General Manager, you will support the General Manager in the day-to-day running of the venue and take full responsibility for the business when required.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading, motivating and developing the team to deliver consistently high standards of service
  • Running the venue confidently and professionally in the absence of the General Manager
  • Delivering outstanding guest experiences in a busy, high-volume environment
  • Supporting and managing food and drink service across all areas of the business
  • Planning rotas in line with forecasts, budgets and business needs
  • Managing labour costs while maintaining excellent service standards
  • Supporting sales growth, profitability and commercial performance
  • Assisting with stock control, ordering, delivery checks, wastage, line checks and stock investigations
  • Reviewing stock reports, identifying areas of concern and implementing action plans
  • Ensuring GP, wage percentages and controllable costs are managed effectively
  • Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, presentation, safety and compliance
  • Supporting large-scale Christmas events, party nights, banqueting and private functions
  • Responding professionally to guest feedback, complaints and reviews
  • Coaching, training and supporting team members to help them grow and perform at their best
  • Assisting with recruitment, induction, performance management and team communication
  • Ensuring company policies, procedures, licensing requirements and health and safety standards are followed at all times

About You

The ideal candidate will be a confident, hands-on hospitality leader with proven experience in a busy food-led pub, restaurant or hotel environment.

You will be calm under pressure, commercially aware and passionate about creating memorable guest experiences. You must be comfortable delivering both high-quality restaurant service and organised banqueting-style service, understanding the different demands of each.

You will also have:

  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience as an Assistant Manager, Deputy Manager or above within a hospitality environment
  • Experience working in a busy food-led pub, restaurant or hotel
  • Strong experience in both restaurant service and banqueting-style service, with the ability to manage à la carte dining, pre-orders, large table plans, timed food service, party nights, functions and high-volume event operations
  • The ability to lead the business confidently in the absence of the General Manager
  • Strong experience delivering Christmas events, party nights, hotel banqueting style or large-scale functions
  • Excellent rota planning and labour management skills
  • Good stock control knowledge, including stock reports, wastage, loss investigation and action planning
  • A strong understanding of guest service, standards and operational excellence
  • A genuine passion for coaching, developing and supporting people
  • A positive, approachable and professional leadership style
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build relationships with both guests and team members
  • A commercial mindset, with the drive to grow sales and improve performance
  • The ability to remain calm, respectful and solution-focused in challenging situations

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for a true host who leads from the front.

You will take pride in the standards of the venue, support your team to succeed and ensure every guest receives a warm, professional and memorable experience.

This role would suit someone who enjoys responsibility, thrives in a fast-paced environment and wants to be part of a business where people, service and hospitality are at the heart of everything we do.

Hours

The role will be worked over 5 days out of 7, with flexibility required in line with the needs of the business, including evenings, weekends, bank holidays and key trading periods.
