Full job description

Bartender — Wine, Cocktails & Proper Hospitality

Fold Bistro & Bottle Shop – Marple Bridge, Stockport

£25,500 salary + approximately £5,000 tronc
Expected total package: approximately £30,500
38 hours per week, Thursday to Sunday

The role

Fold is looking for an experienced bartender who cares about what they pour, how it is made and the story behind it.

You’ll serve carefully selected wines, quality beers and seasonal cocktails in our neighborhood bistro and bottle shop. You’ll also help guests find drinks they will genuinely enjoy, sharing your knowledge in a warm and approachable way.

You don’t need to know everything. You do need strong bar experience, confidence with classic cocktails and genuine curiosity about wine, beer and flavour.

What you’ll do

  • Prepare and serve wines, beers and classic and seasonal cocktails.
  • Learn our drinks list, producers, regions and flavour profiles.
  • Make thoughtful recommendations based on guests’ tastes and budgets.
  • Help develop seasonal cocktails and contribute new ideas.
  • Keep the bar and cellar clean, organised and ready for service.
  • Support stock control, deliveries, rotation and wastage management.
  • Work closely with the kitchen and front-of-house team.
  • Deliver warm, relaxed and knowledgeable hospitality.

What we’re looking for

  • Solid experience behind a quality bar.
  • Good knowledge of classic cocktails and bar preparation.
  • Confidence speaking with guests and recommending drinks.
  • A genuine interest in wine and developing your product knowledge.
  • High standards of cleanliness, organisation and consistency.
  • A calm, friendly approach during busy services.
  • Reliable availability from Thursday to Sunday, including evenings.
  • A collaborative attitude.

Experience in a wine bar, bottle shop or independent restaurant would be valuable. Wine qualifications, drinks-menu development, stock-control or supervisory experience are also welcome—but not essential.

What we offer

  • £25,500 salary for 38 hours per week.
  • Approximately £5,000 annual tronc.
  • A consistent Thursday-to-Sunday working pattern.
  • Staff meals and employee discounts.
  • Ongoing wine, beer and cocktail training.
  • Producer and supplier tastings.
  • Involvement in seasonal menus and drinks events.
  • A clear route towards senior bartender or supervisory responsibility.
