Job Overview

The Pepperpot is located inside one of Derby’s most iconic buildings. On the site of the old Derbyshire Royal Infirmary. The site features a AA rosette award winning restaurant in the original building, a stylish restaurant housed in the new glass box extension to the rear and a large outdoor terrace. With over 1 million pounds invested in the site, this is the perfect opportunity for a skilled Chef de Partie to execute a high-end menu and showcase their talent. As a Chef de Partie, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in managing kitchen operations, ensuring high standards of food quality, and fostering a positive work environment. This position is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced restaurant setting and is eager to help lead a talented team.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Head Chef in overseeing daily kitchen operations and managing staff.
  • Supervise food preparation and production to ensure quality and consistency.
  • Collaborate with the culinary team to develop new menu items and enhance existing offerings.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within the kitchen.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff, promoting teamwork and professional development.
  • Manage inventory, including ordering supplies and minimising waste.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen area.
  • Step in as the Head Chef when required, demonstrating strong leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar role within the hospitality industry.
  • Strong culinary skills with a passion for food preparation and presentation.
  • Excellent supervisory and team management abilities.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices.
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • A positive attitude with a willingness to help others succeed in their roles.
