Job Title: Hotel Receptionist

Location: The Fleece Hotel, Richmond, North Yorkshire

Position Type: Full-Time (40 hours per week)

Job Overview:

The Fleece Hotel is a stylish boutique hotel located in the heart of Richmond, North Yorkshire, offering a unique blend of historic charm and modern comfort. The hotel features 12 recently refurbished rooms, one luxurious suite, and three modern apartments, each designed to offer comfort and style while preserving the building’s unique, historic charm.

With an inviting restaurant and bar, The Fleece provides guests with a warm welcome and a memorable stay from start to finish. We are looking for an enthusiastic Full-Time Hotel Receptionist to join the team to be the first point of contact for our guests, helping create exceptional guest experiences from arrival to departure. The ideal candidate will have prior experience in both administration and customer service roles, ideally in a hotel or hospitality environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Greet and check-in guests, ensuring a warm and welcoming experience.
  • Manage room and table bookings, cancellations, and special requests using the hotel’s reservation systems.
  • Answer phone calls, emails, and respond to guest inquiries promptly.
  • Ensure the smooth running of the reception area, including handling guest requests, complaints, and feedback.
  • Maintain guest records, including personal details and payment information, in line with hotel policies.
  • Assist with other tasks when needed, to help the smooth operation of the hotel, bar and restaurant, offering excellent customer service.
  • Maintain the reception area to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role, preferably in hospitality.
  • Experience with general office administration.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with guests professionally and courteously.
  • The ability to work alone as well as within a team, communicating effectively with peers.
  • Experience in a bar/restaurant environment preferred, but not essential.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in using booking systems (RezControl/ResDiary) preferred, but not essentially, as full training will be given
  • A positive attitude, team-oriented mindset, and willingness to help wherever needed.
  • Flexibility to work varied shifts, including weekends and evenings.
  • A genuine passion for providing outstanding customer service.
