Full job description

JExperienced Pub Chef / Cook – Full or Part Time

The Dog Inn – Whalley, Lancashire

We’re looking for an experienced Pub Chef / Cook to join the kitchen team at The Dog Inn in Whalley.

This isn’t a kitchen assistant position. We’re looking for someone who can genuinely cook, is confident in a busy pub kitchen and can produce consistently good, home-cooked pub food.

A chef job with sensible hours

We know hospitality doesn’t have to mean giving up your life.

There is NO evening work.
NO split shifts.
NO ridiculously long shifts.

All working hours fall between 7am and 6pm at the absolute latest, with rotas shared fairly between the kitchen team.

We’re looking for another capable chef specifically so that the workload can be shared properly and nobody has to work excessive hours.

We’re also genuinely flexible about whether you’re looking for full-time or part-time work. If you’re a good chef who only wants 2, 3 or 4 days a week, we’d still really like to hear from you.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for a proper, experienced cook who:

* Can confidently prepare and cook fresh, home-cooked food
* Understands traditional, good-quality pub food
* Can comfortably run a service
* Is organised, reliable and works well as part of a small team
* Understands food hygiene, preparation, stock rotation and portion control
* Takes pride in sending out consistently good food
* Is equally comfortable cooking from fresh and sensibly using quality pre-prepared products where appropriate

We’re not trying to be a fine-dining restaurant.

We simply want to serve really good, honest pub food that customers enjoy and come back for.

Who might this suit?

It could be perfect for an experienced chef who’s had enough of late nights, split shifts and 50–60 hour weeks but still enjoys cooking.

It could equally suit someone semi-retired, someone with family commitments, or simply a good chef who wants a better work-life balance.

Experience and ability are more important to us than qualifications.

Hours & Pay

Full-time or part-time – we’re genuinely flexible.

All shifts between 7am and 6pm. No evenings. No split shifts.

We’re prepared to pay a good rate for the right person and would rather pay properly for an experienced chef than compromise on the quality of the kitchen.

If you’re an experienced chef looking for a friendly pub, sensible working hours and a job that doesn’t take over your life, we’d love to hear from you.

Pay: £14.00-£15.00 per hour

Benefits:

  • Discounted or free food

Work Location: In person
