Job Summary
We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Team Member to join our dynamic team in a vibrant coffee shop environment. As a Coffee King Team member you are responsible for maintaining quality service through your front of house duties, cash handling, customer service and stock control. You are responsible for maintaining a safe and clean environment that is welcoming for both you, the team, and most importantly, our customers.

General Duties

· Performing the site opening and closing procedures to Brand standard and within the specified time.

· Serve food and beverages in-line with the manufacturer’s guidelines and Coffee King’s cooking and serving instructions.

· Using the till system following company policies and procedures.

· Operate the cashbook in-line with the company directives.

· Cash handling, ensure cash security at all times including cash and change floats.

· Use the PDQ equipment in-line with the company procedures and manufacturer’s instructions.

· Receiving deliveries onto site, ensuring correct handling and administration.

· All standard documentation is to be completed accurately and actioned according to process in the agreed timelines.

· Always attempt to discuss our product range with every customer, explaining promotions and seasonal offers.

· Deliver outstanding customer service and promote customer loyalty at every opportunity.

· Act in a professional manner and diffuse any difficult or disruptive customers to maintain a safe environment.

· Respond to customer feedback, providing adequate solutions to customer queries/complaints.

· Adhere to health and safety rules and health and safety regulations, always following company policy to maintain high food safety and hygiene standards.

· Ensuring COSHH and RIDDOR procedures are adhered to.

· Ensuring cleanliness is maintained to a high standard, including team members, all site areas both internally and externally.

· Keep all equipment clean and in-line with food safety standards and manufacturer warranties.

· Ensure site is hazard free and safe for team members/public. Report any issues to your line manager. All repairs should be carried out efficiently.

· Daily checks on all stock to stay in line with food safety standards making sure that all stock is stored and displayed within it’s ‘sell by date’ parameters.

· Store, preserve, maintain & manage all products (wet & dry) according to supplier guidelines to ensure optimum standards across full site product range.

Qualities and Skills Required:

· General food and safety knowledge.

· Knowledge of coffee industry keeping up to date with trends and best practice.

· A good standard of spoken and written English.

· Basic administration and organisational skills (to work to deadlines and prioritise own workload).

· Highly focused on delivering a high standard of customer service.

· Creative and lateral thinking, idea generating for process improvement and able to implement.

· Ability to work on multiple tasks independently and within a team.

· Highly resilient, remaining calm and stable under pressure.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· A positive and proactive attitude.

· A flexible approach and enthusiastic manner.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with food preparation to ensure timely and quality service
  • Serve customers efficiently and courteously, maintaining high standards of customer care
  • Uphold food safety standards and hygiene protocols at all times
  • Manage order taking and processing using POS systems accurately
  • Support the team with basic cleaning and organisation of the workspace
  • Engage in upselling to enhance customer experience and maximise sales opportunities
  • Demonstrate effective time management to handle busy periods smoothly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure a welcoming and efficient environment for guests

Skills

  • Experience in food preparation or restaurant operations is advantageous
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations and best practices
  • Previous serving experience in a fast-paced setting is preferred
  • Basic maths skills for handling transactions and cash handling accurately
  • Kitchen or culinary experience is a plus but not mandatory
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise tasks effectively
  • Excellent time management skills to meet service demands during busy hours
  • Ability to upsell menu items confidently to enhance guest satisfaction and sales performance
