Full job description

Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club is looking for an experienced and motivated Front of House Manager to lead the day-to-day operation of our clubhouse bar and restaurant.

This is a hands-on management position requiring a strong leader who can maintain high standards, support the team and ensure members, visitors and guests consistently receive excellent service. The successful candidate must be comfortable taking responsibility, making decisions and remaining calm and organised during busy periods.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the Front of House team during daily service, functions and golf events.
  • Deliver a consistently high standard of service to members, visitors and guests.
  • Supervise, motivate and support staff, setting clear expectations and addressing issues promptly.
  • Assist with the recruitment, induction and training of Front of House employees.
  • Allocate duties and ensure staffing levels are appropriate for the needs of the business.
  • Order and manage bar, beverage and coffee stock.
  • Complete regular stock checks, monitor wastage and help maintain agreed gross-profit targets.
  • Ensure opening, closing and cash-handling procedures are completed accurately.
  • Coordinate effectively with the kitchen team to provide a smooth and efficient service.
  • Manage bookings, functions and special events in conjunction with the Clubhouse Manager.
  • Respond professionally to member and customer feedback or complaints.
  • Take control of operational, safety and emergency situations, escalating matters appropriately.
  • Ensure licensing, food hygiene, health and safety and other relevant procedures are followed.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness, presentation and organisation throughout all Front of House areas.
  • Report maintenance, staffing and operational concerns promptly to the Clubhouse Manager.
  • Support the Clubhouse Manager with the continued development of the Front of House operation.

About you

The successful candidate will have:

  • Previous supervisory or management experience within hospitality.
  • Strong leadership and people-management skills.
  • The confidence to take ownership and make sound decisions.
  • Excellent customer-service and communication skills.
  • Experience with stock ordering, stock control and cash handling.
  • A good understanding of licensing, food hygiene and workplace health and safety.
  • The ability to remain calm and organised in a busy and changing environment.
  • A professional and approachable manner.
  • The flexibility to work evenings, weekends and functions as required.
  • Experience within a golf club, members’ club, hotel or similar environment would be advantageous but is not essential.
