Full job description

Countrywide Roofing & Insulation | Midlands & North of England

Salary: Competitive basic salary plus performance-related bonus, dependent on experience
Location: Field-based, covering the Midlands and North of England

Ready to get off the tools?

Are you an experienced roofer looking to take the next step in your career? Perhaps you're ready to move away from the physical demands of roofing and put your knowledge and experience to use in a surveying, estimating and customer-facing role.

Countrywide Roofing & Insulation is looking for a knowledgeable roofing professional to join our growing team, inspecting properties affected by closed-cell spray foam insulation and preparing quotations for roof replacement projects.

This is an opportunity to use your roofing expertise without spending your days carrying out physical installation work. Instead, you'll be visiting customers, assessing roofs, recommending solutions and pricing projects.

Experience with spray foam insulation is beneficial but not essential, as full training will be provided.

About Countrywide Roofing & Insulation

We specialise in roofing and insulation solutions, helping homeowners resolve roofing issues associated with spray foam insulation.

We currently complete over 20 roofing projects per month and have ambitious plans to increase this into the 40s. We're looking for the right person to join us at an exciting stage of our growth and help us achieve those ambitions.

The role

You'll travel throughout the Midlands and North of England to attend pre-booked appointments at properties where closed-cell spray foam insulation has been installed within the roof.

These are pre-qualified inbound enquiries from homeowners who have already contacted us and are looking for a solution, typically involving roof replacement.

There is no cold calling, no door-to-door sales and no requirement to generate your own leads. Your focus will be on inspecting roofs, understanding the work required, preparing accurate quotations and providing customers with a professional service.

Key responsibilities

  • Attend pre-booked customer appointments across the Midlands and North of England.
  • Inspect roofs containing closed-cell spray foam insulation and establish the requirements for roof replacement.
  • Assess existing roofing systems, materials and visible defects.
  • Prepare accurate quotations for roofing works, including stripping, spray foam removal where required, re-felting, re-slating, re-tiling and associated works.
  • Calculate material quantities, labour, scaffolding, access equipment, waste disposal and other project costs.
  • Use a drone to capture photographs and video footage of roofs, with training provided where required.
  • Explain recommended works and quotations clearly and professionally to homeowners.
  • Complete inspection reports, photographs, videos and CRM records accurately.
  • Ensure quotations and proposed works follow relevant industry guidance, applicable Building Regulations and company procedures.
  • Work closely with the wider team to help convert qualified enquiries into completed projects.

What we're looking forEssential experience

  • Previous experience working within the roofing industry.
  • Strong knowledge of roofing systems, materials, construction methods and installation practices.
  • The ability to assess roofing requirements and produce accurate, commercially viable quotations.
  • Good communication skills and confidence when dealing with homeowners.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel throughout the designated region.

Roofing qualifications

The following qualifications would be advantageous:

  • NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Roofing Occupations.
  • City & Guilds roofing qualifications.
  • Relevant qualifications in roof slating, tiling or other roofing disciplines.
  • Experience or qualifications in roofing surveying, estimating or construction.
  • Relevant health and safety training, such as a CSCS card where applicable.

Formal qualifications are desirable, but strong practical roofing experience and the ability to price work accurately are our priorities.

Desirable additional experience

  • Previous experience with closed-cell spray foam insulation.
  • Experience surveying and pricing complete roof replacements.
  • Drone operation experience and relevant CAA competency or qualifications.
  • Experience with traditional roofing systems and Grade II listed buildings.
  • Knowledge of Roofing Confederation guidance, manufacturer specifications and relevant building standards.

Full training will be provided on our spray foam inspection process, company procedures and the specific roofing solutions we offer.

Salary, bonus and progression

Salary and bonus arrangements will be based on experience and suitability.

We currently complete over 20 roofing projects per month and are working towards increasing this to 40 or more. This creates a genuine opportunity for the successful candidate to grow alongside the business and take on greater responsibility as our roofing operation expands.

You'll be given pre-booked, qualified customer appointments, allowing you to concentrate on the technical and customer-facing aspects of the role rather than prospecting for new business.

Why join us?

  • Get off the tools: Move into a role that uses your roofing knowledge without the daily physical demands of installation work.
  • No cold calling: All appointments come through our pre-qualified inbound enquiries.
  • Full training: Learn our specialist spray foam inspection and quotation processes.
  • Competitive earning potential: Basic salary plus a performance-related bonus.
  • Career development: Join a growing business with ambitious expansion plans.
  • Varied projects: Work across different residential roofing systems and property types.

How to apply

If you're an experienced roofer who wants to take the next step in your career, move away from physical roofing work and use your expertise in a surveying and estimating role, we'd like to hear from you.

Send us your CV and tell us about your roofing background, qualifications and experience pricing or managing roofing projects.
