Full job description

Join Our Wonderful Team at Sawston Nursery!

Sawston Nursery is a warm, welcoming, non‑profit charitable organisation dedicated to giving children the very best start in life. Our passionate team supports children’s learning and development from 3 months to 4 years, creating a nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

We are incredibly proud of our OUTSTANDING OFSTED Inspection, which praised our team, noting that:

“Practitioners are highly motivated, and the well-being of staff is of high priority to the leadership team. Practitioners are enthusiastic, positive and they are valued. They are excellent role models, giving children the best possible environment to learn and develop in.”

We are excited to offer a new role within our Nursery!
This position is available across the setting, working 9am–6pm, four days per week, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and 2pm-6pm Thursday. This totals 36 hours per week.

We are looking for a highly motivated, caring individual to join us 1st September 2026. However, if an earlier start date is preferred this can be negotiated.

Please note: We are open 51 weeks of the year, so this is a full-year position, not term-time only.

If you have a passion for working with young children and would love to be part of a supportive, enthusiastic team, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Main Responsibilities

  • Help maintain and develop our safe, engaging Learning Through Play environment
  • Support trained staff in planning and recording activities for each child
  • Maintain awareness of Health & Safety requirements
  • Carry out relevant duties as needed within the Nursery
  • Attend staff meetings and assist with occasional events outside the Nursery
  • Be willing to train in Paediatric First Aid, Safeguarding and Food Hygiene

Qualities & Experience We’re Looking For

  • A professional, mature and positive approach to work
  • A willingness to learn and further develop Professional skills
  • Flexibility with classroom placement and working hours
  • Reliability, conscientiousness and genuine care for children
  • A strong team player with good communication skills

All successful candidates will be required to complete an enhanced DBS check, full pre‑employment checks and provide two references prior to commencing work in the Nursery.

If this sounds like the perfect next step for you, we’d love to welcome you into our Sawston Nursery Family. For further information please contact Tina on 01223 472018
