Full job description

Eventus Legal are seeking a Legal Secretary or Legal Assistant to join the expanding Wills, Trusts and Probate team of a respected law firm based in Darlington, County Durham. This is a full-time, permanent job offering a competitive salary of up to £25,000, with flexible hours, hybrid and remote working options, and outstanding benefits including 25 days’ annual leave (increasing with service), your birthday off, and, firmwide bonus scheme and christmas closure without needing to save holiday.

Role Responsibilities
The incoming Legal Secretary will work as part of a centralised typing pool, providing high-level administrative and secretarial support to fee earners within the Wills, Trusts and Probate team. You will be part of a supportive team committed to delivering a first-class client experience. Responsibilities will include:

  • Audio typing and document production across the department
  • Working on the firm’s case management system
  • Opening, updating, and closing files
  • Diary management and appointment scheduling
  • Preparing legal documentation, forms, and correspondence
  • Liaising with clients, third parties, and internal teams
  • Processing payments and managing incoming/outgoing post
  • General administration and legal support duties as required

Person Specification
This job is ideal for a Legal Secretary, Legal Assistant or Legal PA with at least 2 years’ experience gained within a legal environment. Experience within Wills, Trusts and Probate is desirable but not essential, and applications are welcomed from candidates across any legal discipline. To succeed in this position, you will:

  • Have prior experience working in a legal environment
  • Be highly organised with strong administrative and IT skills
  • Show excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients and colleagues
  • Be adaptable, friendly, and able to work well independently and as part of a team
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive matters with discretion
