The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Community Manager to join our team and support the effective management of community wide programmes within our youth and community centre. The role focuses on community engagement, participation, outreach and the effective utilisation of the centre's facilities and services. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about youth and community work and eager to take on a leadership role while making a positive impact on young people and the community within the Marylebone area.

Key Responsibilities

· Managing multidisciplinary teams including community development staff, sports coaches, volunteers, trainees and sessional workers.

· Leading the development, planning and delivery of community engagement, health and wellbeing programmes that increase participation, inclusion and positive outcomes for local residents.

· Ensure safeguarding practices are adhered to and that people’s welfare is prioritised at all times. Support the safeguarding lead in implementing policies and procedures.

· Developing and managing strategic partnerships which increase participation, enhance service delivery and create opportunities for collaborative projects with local schools, community groups, and organisations to increase participation levels.

· Support the identification, development and delivery of funded community projects, providing programme information and outcome data to support funding applications and reporting requirements.

· Planning and delivering high quality youth programmes.

· Leading programmes that promote wellbeing, lifelong learning, social connection and community resilience.

· Leading the volunteer programme, including recruitment, training, supervision, development and recognition of volunteers.

· Lead community engagement and outreach initiatives designed to increase participation from underrepresented and disadvantaged groups.

· Leading the monitoring, evaluation and impact reporting of community services, using data and feedback to drive continuous improvement

· Support the Centre Manager in identifying and developing opportunities for earned income generation through community activities, facility usage, partnerships and enterprise initiatives.

· Supporting the integration of community café and catering initiatives within the centre's wider programme of community engagement, events and income generation activities, working closely with the Office Manager and catering team.

· Monitor and evaluate programme performance, providing impact reports to stakeholders.

What we are looking for

Essential Skills

· Proven experience of working in community development and facilities, or a similar field.

· Demonstrable experience of developing and improving community services that increase participation, engagement and community impact.

· Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate, support, and guide staff and volunteers.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, able to engage with young people, diverse communities, partners, and other stakeholders.

· Experience in partnership building and outreach, working effectively with schools, local organisations, and community leaders.

Qualifications

· A Level 3 Diploma in management qualification in Leisure, Youth Work, Social Care, or Education, or equivalent work experience. Sports or youth coaching qualifications are also desirable.

· Enhanced DBS check (essential).

· A Full First Aid at Work certification (or willingness to obtain).

· Health & Safety training or a willingness to undertake necessary training.

· Additional qualifications in safeguarding, community sport, youth development, or leadership (desirable).

Key Requirements

· Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

· You must engage in face-to-face interactions with young people and community users for at least 70% of the week.

· Ability to stay resilient and handle multiple challenges in a dynamic community setting, maintaining a proactive approach as footfall and staffing levels grow.

· Hold a passion for supporting people and creating positive outcomes for the community.

· Have experience working in a leisure and/centre or youth/community environment is a plus.

· Be able to demonstrate the ability to manage projects and coordinate teams effectively.

· A proactive, solution-focused approach to problem-solving and decision-making.

· A strong understanding of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion principles and their practical application within community settings.

Pay: £35,000.00-£43,000.00 per year
