Full job description
Who are Eque2?
Eque2 provides specialist software for the construction and housebuilding sectors, helping businesses manage everything from estimating and financial management to commercial operations and project delivery.
We work with leading platforms including Microsoft, Sage and Xero, helping construction businesses improve visibility, stay in control and manage their operations more effectively. Today, we support over 3,000 construction businesses across the UK and Ireland, from growing contractors to large, complex organisations.
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Technical Consultant (Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central) to lead the successful delivery of complex enterprise implementations, upgrades and migrations across both on-premises and SaaS environments.
As the Technical Consultant, you will provide technical expertise throughout the full project lifecycle, from discovery and solution design through to configuration, data migration, integrations, testing, deployment and go-live support. Working closely with senior customer stakeholders, you will collaborate with Project Managers, Functional Consultants, Developers and Support teams to deliver secure, scalable and sustainable solutions that meet customer requirements and are delivered within agreed scope, budget and timescales.
You will have extensive Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience, with a proven track record of delivering enterprise-scale implementations, upgrades and migrations. Confident engaging with customers and senior stakeholders, you will be able to translate business requirements into effective technical solutions whilst managing multiple priorities. Organised, proactive and customer-focused, you will combine strong technical expertise with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Is this the right role for you?
This role requires substantial, hands-on experience delivering Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Dynamics 365 Business Central implementations, upgrades and migrations in a customer-facing environment.
It is not a general software development, IT support or entry-level Business Central role. Development experience alone, without direct responsibility for Business Central implementations, upgrades or migrations, would not meet the requirements of this position.
Key Responsibilities
-
Lead the technical delivery of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementations, upgrades and migrations across on-premises and SaaS environments.
-
Provide technical leadership throughout the project lifecycle, including discovery, solution design, configuration, testing, deployment and post-go-live support.
-
Plan and execute data migrations, system integrations and upgrade projects, ensuring minimal business disruption.
-
Install, configure and support Business Central software, associated technologies and third-party solutions, including Continia products.
-
Deliver technical analysis, upgrade planning and solution recommendations to customers.
-
Apply software builds, patches and hotfixes across customer environments as required.
-
Provide technical training, guidance and knowledge transfer to customers and internal teams.
-
Support Microsoft 365, Power BI and integration technologies aligned to Business Central solutions.
-
Test standard and customised software developments to ensure quality, performance and reliability.
-
Produce and maintain technical documentation, implementation plans, estimates and solution designs.
-
Identify, manage and mitigate technical risks, issues and dependencies throughout project delivery.
-
Collaborate with internal teams to ensure projects are delivered to agreed quality standards, budgets and timescales.
-
Contribute to the development of technical standards, best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across the Professional Services team.
Qualifications
-
Degree, diploma or equivalent qualification in Business Information Systems, Information Technology or a related discipline.
-
Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central certifications are desirable.
Skills, Knowledge and Experience
Essential
-
Proven experience delivering Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central implementations, upgrades and migrations across SaaS and on-premises environments.
-
Strong experience with Microsoft Dynamics NAV, including legacy versions, and current Business Central releases.
-
Hands-on experience with AL development, Visual Studio Code, extensions, APIs, web services and integration technologies.
-
Strong SQL Server knowledge, including troubleshooting, reporting and data migration activities.
-
Experience of solution design, workshop facilitation, technical documentation and effort estimation.
-
Strong understanding of deployment governance, security principles and technical risk management.
-
Experience supporting enterprise-scale software implementations and business change initiatives.
-
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, including engagement at senior leadership level.
-
Ability to manage competing priorities and maintain high standards under pressure.
-
Experience working within a Professional Services or consultancy environment.
-
Valid UK Driving License and willingness to travel to customer sites across the UK when required.
Desirable
-
Microsoft certifications relating to Business Central, Azure or associated technologies.
-
Continia implementation experience.
-
Power Platform and Power BI experience.
-
Azure services and cloud migration experience.
-
RapidStart, XML Ports and integration tooling experience.
-
Experience within the construction, contract management or ERP software sectors.
-
Experience mentoring consultants or contributing to technical capability development.
-
Experience supporting pre-sales activities and customer solution workshops.
Success in the role
Success in this role will be demonstrated through the delivery of secure, scalable and supportable Business Central solutions that meet customer requirements and business objectives. The successful candidate will consistently identify and manage technical risks, deliver accurate documentation and estimates, build trusted relationships with customers and stakeholders, and contribute positively to the capability, standards and reputation of the Professional Services team.
Our Commitment to inclusion
We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer, committed to creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and has the opportunity to thrive.
