We’re looking for a skilled Solar Electrician to support the installation, maintenance, and servicing of domestic solar PV systems. This is a field‑based, hands‑on role requiring strong electrical competence, a professional customer approach, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a two‑person team.

As part of the role, you will be paired with one of our Roofers attending customer sites together to complete installation and service work. This is a field‑based role covering the North East, and due to route planning and customer locations, applicants must already be living in Newcastle, Sunderland, Teesside, or surrounding areas to ensure efficient travel and daily team coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out scheduled inspections and servicing of solar PV systems to maximise performance and longevity
  • Diagnose and repair faults across panels, inverters, and associated wiring using appropriate testing equipment
  • Replace defective components in line with current electrical regulations and safety standards
  • Support the installation and commissioning of new solar PV systems
  • Communicate technical findings and solutions clearly to customers
  • Always maintain a professional and courteous on‑site presence
  • Follow and uphold all health & safety procedures on site
  • Complete accurate service records, reports, and system documentation
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve efficiency, reliability, and customer satisfaction

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Qualified Electrician (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent)
  • 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671)
  • Solar Installation Experience
  • Proven experience in domestic electrical installations
  • Comfortable working as part of a two‑person installation team alongside a Roofer
  • Able to work in occupied domestic properties
  • Must be currently living within Newcastle, Sunderland, Teesside, or nearby areas Willing to work a 50‑hour per week contract
  • Full UK driving licence < 6 points

Desirable

  • Test & Inspection qualification (2391 or equivalent)
  • Experience with battery storage installations
  • EV charging experience or qualification (2372 / 2399)
  • Previous experience in the renewables or solar industry
  • Solar PV and Battery course
