About the role:
We’re looking for a Solution Architect to join the Enterprise architect team within the Group CTO directorate. This team plays a central role in shaping Jisc’s target architecture, setting design standards, and governing technical decision making across the organisation. You’ll be part of the Jisc Design Authority, working closely with Technical Design Authorities and project delivery teams to ensure our technology solutions are aligned, strategic, and support successful transformation outcomes.
In this role, you’ll help drive architectural consistency across major transformation workstreams, provide trusted decision support to programme teams, and guide the design and delivery of solutions across multiple technology domains. You’ll also contribute to the development of architectural artefacts, patterns, and practices that underpin Jisc’s long term technology strategy.

- Contribute to target architectures, design patterns, principles, standards, and roadmaps
- Coordinate and participate in Technical Design Authorities to support joined up decision making
- Work with architects, designers, and delivery teams to design solutions that meet business and programme needs
- Provide architectural guidance and decision support across transformation workstreams, acting as a trusted advisor to stakeholders
- Support the implementation of solutions, ensuring they align with agreed designs and meet business requirements
- Substantial experience working within an architectural or technical design team.
- Experience with Salesforce, MuleSoft, AWS, and Dynamics 365, plus designing solutions across major cloud providers
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage both technical and non technical stakeholders
- Confidence designing solutions across multiple technology domains and understanding modern design patterns
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to work effectively across large teams and complex programmes
- Familiarity with architectural tooling and modelling approaches (e.g., UML)
- TOGAF or an equivalent architectural qualification
- Have experience working on large transformation programmes or developing an architectural practice
- Have designed solutions to decommission or migrate away from legacy platforms
- Have experience developing or maturing an architectural practice
