First Steps Together is seeking a passionate and dedicated Speech and Language Therapist to support children and young people with a range of speech, language and communication needs.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a supportive multidisciplinary team where you will play a key role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning, communication and social development. You will work with children and young people with needs including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), SEMH needs, attachment difficulties and developmental language disorders.

What You'll Be Doing

As our Speech and Language Therapist, you will:

  • Assess speech, language and communication needs using a range of formal and informal assessment tools.
  • Develop and deliver personalised therapy programmes and intervention plans.
  • Provide direct and indirect interventions on an individual and group basis.
  • Contribute to EHCP assessments, annual reviews and target setting.
  • Work collaboratively with SENDCos, teaching staff, parents, carers and external professionals.
  • Support staff through communication strategies and therapeutic recommendations.
  • Monitor progress and adapt interventions to ensure positive outcomes.
  • Prepare professional reports and maintain accurate clinical records.

What We're Looking ForEssential

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • HCPC Registration.
  • Membership of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT).
  • Experience working with children and young people with speech, language and communication needs.
  • Knowledge of EHCP processes and SEND legislation.
  • Excellent communication, assessment and report-writing skills.

Desirable

  • Experience working within education, specialist schools or SEND settings.
  • Experience supporting children with autism, SEMH needs and attachment difficulties.
  • Experience delivering training or workshops to staff and families.
