Full job description

Priory Robinson House are looking to recruit Support Worker's to join their team.

  • Full Time, Permanent role working 40hrs p/week
  • 12-hour shifts (08:00 - 20:00) with alternating weekends required
  • £13.45 p/hour
  • X1 sleep in shift required weekly - £35 fixed rate

Due to a genuine occupational requirement, we are looking to recruit female workers for this particular role.

SLEEP IN SHIFT: When doing a sleep in you will work 08:00 - 21:00 and then clock out to which you will go to the room upstairs for your overnight stay. Should you at any point be required to work, you will clock back in and continue to be paid the standard rate of £13.45 on top of the fixed £35 rate added for your sleep in.

Robinson House is located in Soham, in Ely. The service offers residential support for 10 people who have a primary learning disability diagnosis. We are located off a main road, just outside the town centre. Our team are dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of the people we support, providing everyone who stays with us with the skills needed to live a healthier and happier life, back in the community.

It would be ideal if you have previous experience gained in a similar role. However whilst this is valuable, we are looking for individuals who display the right values and behaviours in order to make a difference to people’s lives. You should be keen to learn and show compassion to care for the people we support.

What you'll be doing

You will be part of a compassionate team who are committed to our residents wellbeing. We take a personalised approach, using proven therapies to help people move forward with confidence and build a healthier, more fulfilling future.

Your positive attitude and passion for providing high quality care and support will be your key strengths, but you'll also have a friendly, patient and positive approach to work.

As a Support Worker, you will assist qualified staff with the assessment and implementation of individual patient care plans, undertaking routine tasks and activities as directed or delegated to facilitate wellbeing, dignity and treatment of residents. You will provide support with day to day activities, whilst encouraging and promoting independent living. As part of our team, you’ll help people reach their potential, through both practical and emotional support, making a positive difference to their lives.

  • Supporting with personal care tasks, such as washing, dressing, eating and personal care
  • Performing light housekeeping tasks, such as dusting, vacuuming, and changing bed clothes
  • Assisting with safe lifting, transferring, repositioning and movement of individuals
  • Assistance and support to attend medical appointments
  • Observe, monitor, and record physical and emotional well-being, and quickly report any changes to senior staff
  • Supporting the development of important family connections and liaising with specialists, including Speech & Language Therapists and Learning Disability teams
  • Encouraging participation in social and recreational activities that promote involvement and personal growth

What you'll bring to the role

Our work is rewarding but can be challenging, so resilience is key. No two days are the same! Your natural empathy will help you support others through both the highs and lows.

The ideal candidate:

It is essential that you are able to drive to site as our public transport links do not align with the shift times required. You will need to provide proof of this as part of the interview process.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring nature
  • Empathy, understanding and patience
  • Ability to work on your own and as part of a team
  • Ability to understand and follow policies and procedure
  • The ability to anticipate and respond to challenges
  • Competent in verbal and written English
  • A healthcare qualification is desirable, but not essential

To be considered for this role, we require you to have the right to work in the UK.

What we will give you in return -

We want you to succeed at Priory and thrive in your role. You will be well supported with regular career conversations. We also offer full training and numerous pathways into leadership and qualified clinical positions to help you shape your career with us.

Adult care benefits

  • Free on-site parking
  • 28 days annual leave
  • Contributory pension scheme
  • Flexible benefits including reduced rates and access to new schemes including gym membership, IT technology (laptops / tablets / smartphones) and private healthcare
  • Access to development opportunities
  • Sponsorship of professional qualifications through our Individual Professional Development (IPD) panel
  • Leadership & management development
  • Long service award
  • Refer a friend bonuses
