Full job description

FarmVets SouthWest require a full time Receptionist / Administrative Assistant to join our friendly agricultural based practice. MUST BE FLEXIBLE TO WORK IN ANY ONE OF OUR THREE BRANCHES IN BRIDGWATER, ILMINSTER AND YARCOMBE. The applicant must live in the area. Will need to work 1 in 5 Saturday mornings in Bridgwater. Own reliable transport essential. Experience in the veterinary industry is preferred but not essential.

Duties to include:

  • Answer telephone calls from clients and ensure that request for visits are booked onto the diary efficiently and that messages are taken accurately and passed to the relevant member of staff in a timely manner
  • Be familiar with, and able to use, all functions of the practice’s clinical system (currently RoboVet)
  • Accurately dispense both POM and POM-VPS drugs to clients as required and ensure that these are booked to RoboVet
  • Carry out regular checks to ensure that all drugs stocked are well within expiry date and highlight those with an expiry date of less than three months
  • Utilise Animal Plant Health Agency program – SAM, use this program to book TB work carried out by the team of veterinary surgeons
  • Book work undertaken by veterinary staff on to the computer system accurately as required
  • Cash handling – take payments made by clients (cheques, credit card) and accurately process these on RoboVet
  • Carry out all task requested by the veterinary surgeons across all three sites as required
  • Ensure that the practice’s three sites are kept clean, tidy and well organised
  • Good communication skills and attention to detail are essential
  • Salary is dependent on experience
  • To start within a few months
