The Vacancy

Join Our Team as a Maintenance Assistant

We have a great opportunity to join Tricuro as a Maintenance Assistant, supporting our services across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole.

Our buildings are much more than workplaces – they are places where people receive care and support, live their daily lives and spend time with the people who matter to them. Keeping those environments safe, comfortable and well maintained is an important part of the service we provide.

Working under the guidance of our Facilities & Maintenance Manager, you’ll provide practical, hands-on maintenance support across our main service buildings throughout the BCP area.

This is an ideal opportunity for someone with good general maintenance experience who enjoys variety, practical problem-solving and taking pride in a job well done. The role involves regular travel between our services, so a valid driving licence is essential.

What you’ll be doing

No two days will be exactly the same. You’ll help keep our premises and facilities maintained to a high standard, responding to everyday maintenance needs while also helping us identify and prevent problems before they arise.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out day-to-day repairs and general maintenance to doors, walls, flooring, fixtures, fittings and equipment.
  • Undertaking basic decorating, minor plumbing, tiling, grouting and other appropriate maintenance work.
  • Assisting with the installation of appliances, fixtures and equipment.
  • Responding promptly and appropriately to reported defects and maintenance requests.
  • Supporting planned and preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Carrying out routine inspections and checks to identify potential issues at an early stage.
  • Helping maintain our buildings, communal spaces, grounds and external areas.
  • Identifying and reporting hazards, defects or other concerns that could affect safety.
  • Using tools, equipment and materials safely and ensuring work areas are left clean, safe and secure.
  • Supporting and liaising with contractors and suppliers working at Tricuro premises.
  • Helping maintain stocks of maintenance tools, materials and supplies.
  • Logging maintenance requests and keeping appropriate records of completed and outstanding work.
  • Working flexibly with service managers and colleagues to respond to operational priorities across our locations.

You’ll also help identify work that requires a specialist contractor, support access arrangements and completed-work checks, and contribute ideas where recurring maintenance issues could be addressed more effectively.

What we’re looking for

We’re looking for someone practical, dependable and organised who can work confidently across a variety of environments.

You’ll need:

  • Experience in maintenance, preferably at least one year.
  • A valid driving licence with a clean driving record.
  • Confidence using hand and power tools.
  • The ability to undertake physical tasks, including lifting and climbing.
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage different priorities.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work well independently and as part of a wider team.
  • A reliable approach, good attention to detail and a strong work ethic.
  • Basic computer skills, including use of the main Microsoft products.

Experience or qualifications in basic plumbing, electrical work or HVAC would be desirable but are not essential.

Hours and working arrangements

This is a full-time position 37 hours, with typical working hours of:

Monday to Friday, 8:00am–4:00pm

There may occasionally be a requirement to work outside standard hours in an emergency, with overtime paid as compensation.

As the role supports our services across Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole, regular travel between Tricuro locations will be required.

A DBS check is required for this position.

Our values are at the heart of how we work: Empowering, Welcoming, Inclusive, Trustworthy and Innovative. The Maintenance Assistant JD particularly emphasises being professional and friendly within services, treating people with respect, reliably delivering agreed work and contributing to practical problem-solving.
