About Meadows Psychology Service (MPS)
Meadows Psychology Service is a clinical psychology-led organisation and national leader in trauma-informed practice for children and young people. We specialise in working systemically with children who have experienced developmental and relational trauma, delivering psychologically informed care to residential homes, education providers, fostering services, supported accommodation and family systems.
We are committed to delivering high-quality, evidence-based, and relational services. Our team is warm, skilled, and values-driven. We support each other to grow professionally and personally, through reflective spaces, robust supervision, and shared learning. This is an exciting time to join a progressive, nationally recognised service that is developing as a Centre of Excellence in trauma-informed care.
JOB PURPOSE
- To undertake and meet the requirements of Stage 2 Forensic Psychology Training (accredited by the BPS).
- To provide psychologically informed assessment, formulation and intervention to young people placed in residential and other settings supported by MPS.
- To take a lead role (under supervision) in designated children’s homes, supporting the development of a trauma-informed environment through direct and indirect work.
- To work systemically — offering psychological consultation, reflective practice, training and support to staff teams and wider professionals around the child.
- To contribute to the development and delivery of a high-quality therapeutic offer across Meadows Psychology Service.
- To engage in reflective practice, CPD, audit and service evaluation as part of MPS’s commitment to excellence and learning.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Clinical Work and Case Holding
- Carry a small caseload of young people and offer direct therapeutic input where appropriate.
- Undertake structured assessments, clinical formulations, and tailored interventions.
- Write clear, evidence-based reports and contribute to reviews, care planning and multi-agency meetings.
- Support with risk assessments and intervention planning using evidence based and MPS frameworks.
- Systemic Support
- Act as a consistent psychological presence in services MPS supports, offering ongoing input including reflective practice, relational formulation, behaviour planning, and staff guidance.
- Liaise closely with residential staff, house managers, education, and social care professionals.
- Work collaboratively and flexibly to support the therapeutic needs of children and their networks.
- Training and Development
- Deliver training to support the workforce in understanding trauma, attachment, regulation and relational practice.
- Attend supervision with a registered Forensic Psychologist and participate in joint working, shadowing and peer learning.
- Maintain up-to-date records of practice in line with HCPC and Stage 2 requirements, including training logs, supervision notes and reflections.
- Evaluation and Research
- Contribute to outcome measurement and service evaluation processes.
- Engage in audit, research, and innovation aligned with MPS’s strategic aims.
- Professionalism and Development
- Work autonomously within a structured supervisory framework.
- Work in line with MPS policies and procedures, and regulatory guidelines.
- Attend internal peer supervision, CPD events, and development days.
- Demonstrate values-led, inclusive, and reflective professional conduct.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
- Completion of an MSc or Doctorate in Forensic Psychology with eligibility for Stage 2 training
- Graduate Basis for Chartered Membership (GBC) with the BPS
- Experience working with young people who have experienced trauma, often in residential or forensic contexts
- Understanding of trauma-informed practice, attachment theory, and systemic approaches
- Ability to complete structured clinical assessments and contribute to formulation
- Strong written communication skills, including psychological report writing
- Confidence in liaising with professionals across systems (e.g. care, health, education, social work)
- Reflective, organised and motivated to work independently and as part of a team
