At Johnsons, we are seeking an experienced, commercially driven Head of Projects to lead the delivery and growth of our commercial relocation and workplace projects division. Based in the London/South region, the role combines operational leadership, client management, commercial oversight, and project delivery across office relocations, furniture installations, workplace moves, storage logistics, and associated commercial services.


The successful candidate will be responsible for managing projects from initial enquiry through to completion, ensuring profitability, operational efficiency, client satisfaction, and high standards of service delivery.


This is a senior leadership role suited to someone with strong experience in commercial moving, fit-out, logistics, facilities management, or workplace change projects.


Responsibilities


Project & Operational Management


  • Oversee the planning, coordination, and successful delivery of commercial relocation projects.
  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and service standards are achieved.
  • Lead project teams, site supervisors, subcontractors, and operational staff.
  • Conduct site surveys and develop detailed move plans, schedules, and risk assessments.
  • Ensure all projects are delivered safely and in line with company procedures and compliance requirements.
  • Resolve operational issues quickly and professionally during live projects.

Commercial Management


  • Prepare quotations, tenders, and project costings.
  • Monitor project profitability, margins, and financial performance.
  • Negotiate contracts and supplier agreements.
  • Identify opportunities to increase revenue and improve operational efficiency.
  • Support business growth through upselling additional services and maintaining strong client relationships.

Client Relationship Management


  • Build long-term relationships with corporate customers, facilities teams, project managers, and procurement departments.
  • Attend client meetings, site visits, and project reviews.
  • Ensure exceptional customer service and maintain high levels of client satisfaction.

Leadership & Team Development


  • Lead, motivate, and develop operational and project teams.
  • Support recruitment, training, and performance management.
  • Promote a positive, professional, and safety-focused culture across the business.
  • Improve internal processes and encourage continuous improvement.

Compliance & Health & Safety


  • Ensure projects comply with health & safety legislation and company policies.
  • Maintain RAMS, insurance requirements, and operational documentation.
  • Monitor compliance standards across all project activity.
