About Us


St. Augustine’s CE Primary School is looking to appoint a reliable, practical and proactive Premises Officer to help ensure our school site is safe, secure, clean and well maintained.

Salary:
£13.26 - £14.82 per hour - 52 weeks per year - 5 weeks paid holiday


Contract Type: Permanent - Part Time


Working Pattern: Usually 2 hours in the morning, 1 hour in the evening. But flexibilities can be discussed at interview


Location: St. Augustine's CE Primary School, Scaynes Hill, RH17 7PB

The Premises Officer will play an important part in the daily life of the school. The role will include responsibility for general site security, health and safety checks, basic maintenance, liaison with contractors and helping to ensure that the school building and grounds are well cared for.

The successful candidate will work 3 hours per day, Monday to Friday, all year round. The exact working pattern can be discussed, but the role will include opening and/or closing duties depending on the needs of the school.


What You Need to Succeed


Key responsibilities will include:

  • Opening and/or securing the school site each day
  • Carrying out routine health and safety checks
  • Undertaking basic repairs, maintenance and general DIY tasks
  • Monitoring the school site and reporting any concerns
  • Liaising with contractors and supporting site visits
  • Supporting fire safety, water hygiene and other premises-related checks
  • Carrying out or supporting routine premises checks, including fire alarm testing, water compliance checks and electrical safety processes where appropriately trained
  • Helping to ensure the school grounds are tidy, safe and well maintained
  • Responding to urgent premises issues when needed
  • Supporting the smooth running of the school environment for pupils and staff

We are looking for someone who:

  • Is reliable, trustworthy and well organised
  • Takes pride in keeping the school safe, clean and welcoming
  • Has practical maintenance, DIY or site management skills
  • Can work independently and use initiative
  • Communicates well with staff, contractors and visitors
  • Understands the importance of safeguarding and health and safety
  • Is flexible and willing to support the needs of a small school
  • Is committed to being part of a positive and caring school community
  • Experience in a school or premises-related role would be an advantage. Experience of PAT testing, water compliance testing and fire alarm testing would also be an advantage, but we are equally interested in hearing from candidates with the right practical skills, attitude and commitment.
