The ideal candidate will have an excellent understanding of the creative industries. The post holder will be responsible for leading the Create Digital Learning Company, which provides live client briefs and work placement projects to students within the department.

The post is offered on a 0.8 contract (29.6 hours per week), however, full-time hours (37 hours per week) could be considered for the right candidate.

What is a Learning Company? The Create Digital Learning Company operates as a fully functional, student-staffed creative agency, taking on real projects, for real customers. Specialising mainly in digital design, moving image, and content creation, our company operates exactly like a real-world production house, taking on live briefs from external clients and local organisations. Students produce everything from eye-catching corporate posters and dynamic social content to complex 2D/3D animations and high-impact public information videos. By managing real commercial client expectations, meeting strict production deadlines, and using industry-standard software, students build an exceptional professional portfolio and acquire the technical skills, confidence, and experience that the creative industries are looking for.

Our Learning Company is now in its sixth year of operation and students have worked with major organisations such as the NHS, Mansfield and Ashfield Councils, Godolphin Productions, Nottinghamshire Police, The Violence Reduction Partnership, National Holocaust Centre, Newstead Abby and School Games. We have also worked with many smaller businesses like Rumbles Café and Ground Zero Comics and local primary and special educational schools.

The Design and Media Learning Company Lead will be responsible for sourcing projects, allocating students to the projects and managing the workflow, to ensure final products are quality assured and delivered on time. The post holder will over see the designated Learning Company office and support groups of students to complete the work in our specialist studios.

The post holder will also be responsible for organising the annual Create Expo and annual employer advisory board.

As the Lead, you will oversee the running of the Company and ensure that students who are working for the company, learn the expected skills, professional standards and behaviours.

You will follow the college’s health and safety and safeguarding procedures to ensure that students are attending approved work place settings and/or engaging with approved employers.

The post holder will be expected to be a self-starter and have a high level of resilience, as the role will involve cold calling, engaging new employers and securing client projects, working towards supporting all students to access a meaningful work placement, which may be conducted remotely in line with creative industry freelance practice.

You may, on occasion, be required to travel within the local area, to meet clients face to face.

The role will require you to take on and work to the college’s values of; Respect, Ambition, Integrity, Collaboration and Compassion.
