Ecommerce Design Specialist
Location: Manchester City Centre
Reporting to: Head of Customer Onboarding
Citrus-Lime is an exciting high-growth tech business providing a Cloud-based POS system to small and mid-sized retailers. We compete and win against large tech giants. We are profitable and growing fast.
Our customers are retailers in the outdoor sector, from Cycle through to Equestrian. We’ve revolutionised the way the UK cycle retail works, and helped small companies compete and beat larger businesses. Now at the early stages of internationalisation, and having secured a solid customer base in Ireland, we are poised to push out into mainland Europe and beyond.
About the Role
You will be responsible for designing high-quality, mobile-responsive ecommerce websites on behalf of our retail clients. You will play a key role in delivering exceptional digital experiences that represent our clients’ brands, support their commercial goals, and reflect best practice in modern web design.
You will be proactive in enhancing efficiency across the team by embracing and developing AI-powered tools and widgets, staying ahead of emerging trends, and continuously developing your own skills and knowledge. As a specialist, you will bring a depth of expertise that elevates the standard of work across the team and supports clients in achieving their digital ambitions.
Key Responsibilities
Site Builds & Design:
- Design and deliver websites for new and existing clients within agreed timeframes, ensuring a high standard of quality, mobile responsiveness, and alignment with client requirements.
- Apply strong UX/UI design principles to create intuitive, engaging, and commercially effective ecommerce experiences.
- Act as an advocate for best practice, ensuring all sites are consistent across devices and accurately represent the retailer’s brand and identity.
Recurring & Ongoing Client Work:
- Undertake regular, allocated recurring web design work for existing retail clients, maintaining and enhancing their sites to a high specification and within agreed timescales and assist with their commercial growth and goals.
- Work proactively with retailers to increase revenue, keep their sites ahead of current trends, and support the achievement of their commercial objectives, offering expertise and acting as a trusted digital partner.
- Contribute to client briefs, discovery sessions, and onboarding calls, setting clear expectations and managing relationships with confidence and professionalism.
Support & Client Communication:
- Respond promptly and professionally to support tickets, ensuring solutions are thoroughly tested before delivery.
- Keep clients informed of work completed, ensuring sign-off is obtained and expectations are clearly managed throughout.
- Respond to web-related queries from the support team in a timely manner, enabling them to handle client queries effectively and efficiently.
- Manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, maintaining a high quality of output across all accounts.
Performance & Analytics:
- Monitor, interpret and report performance data using Google Analytics or equivalent tools, using insights to inform design decisions and client recommendations to suggest suggestions to help improve site performance.
- Report on site performance internally and to clients where required, providing clear and actionable recommendations.
AI, Innovation & Team Collaboration:
- Lead on the research, implementation, and documentation of AI and emerging technologies, providing training and guidance to the wider team where appropriate.
- Actively develop AI-powered tools and widgets that improve team efficiency and productivity, sharing these with colleagues to drive collective improvement.
- Keep up to date with emerging technologies, innovations, and best practices in web design and ecommerce, proactively enhancing your skill set to remain at the forefront of the industry.
- Share knowledge and best practice across the team, contributing to a culture of continuous improvement and professional development.
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Proven experience in ecommerce or web design (ideally 4+ years).
- Experience delivering projects to client briefs.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
- Proficiency in design tools such as Figma or Adobe Creative Suite.
- Understanding of UX/UI design principles.
- Understanding of Core Web Vitals and site performance.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and client-facing skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to manage own workload.
- Collaborative team player.
- Committed to continuous learning and development.
Desirable Skills & Experience:
- Experience working with retail clients.
- Experience in a client-facing or account management capacity.
- Knowledge of SEO tools (e.g. Google Search Console, SEMrush).
- Experience with Google Analytics or similar.
- Familiarity with AI tools and automation.
