Construction & Built Environment Apprenticeship Tutor

Civil Engineering | Quantity Surveying | Construction Management

Home-based | Full or part time | Remote teaching

Help develop the construction professionals of the future

Learning Skills Partnership (LSP) is growing our Construction Training Team and we're looking for an experienced construction professional and qualified teacher who shares our passion for developing people at the start of their careers.

Our apprentices are already working in the construction and built environment sector while studying towards professional apprenticeships and qualifications. They are gaining experience, developing their technical knowledge and building careers in areas including Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Design & Build, Site Supervision and Digital Engineering.

As their Tutor, you'll do far more than deliver a qualification. You'll use your own industry experience to bring learning to life – helping apprentices connect theory with what they see and do in the workplace, building their confidence and developing the professional knowledge and competence they need for successful careers.

We're particularly interested in hearing from experienced Quantity Surveyors, as well as professionals from Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Design & Build and the wider Built Environment.

About LSP

Learning Skills Partnership is a specialist apprenticeship training provider working with employers and apprentices across the UK.

Our vision is to be the specialist learning provider of choice for industry, never compromising on quality and always putting the learner first.

You'll join an established and supportive Construction curriculum team, with schemes of work, learning materials and assignments already in place. You'll also have dedicated support from our Support Coaches, Functional Skills Specialists and EPA Specialist.

What will you teach?

Our professional construction apprenticeship provision includes:

  • Construction Quantity Surveying Technician – Level 4
  • Civil Engineering Senior Technician – Level 4
  • Civil Engineering Technician – Level 3
  • Construction Design & Build Technician – Level 4
  • Construction Site Supervisor – Level 4
  • Construction Support Technician – Level 3
  • Digital Engineering Technician – Level 3

These programmes include BTEC Higher National in Civil Engineering, Construction Management & Quantity Surveying and BTEC National Diploma in Construction & the Built Environment & Civil Engineering.

How we teach

Teaching is delivered remotely through Microsoft Teams to small cohorts, typically around 10–15 apprentices.

Full-time Tutors teach four days each week, with a protected fifth day for preparation, planning, learner support, meetings and administration.

Each teaching day combines structured tutor-led teaching with directed learning, individual support and 1:1 sessions.

What you'll be doing

You'll:

  • Deliver engaging, high-quality remote teaching
  • Use your industry experience to connect theory with real workplace practice
  • Teach and assess apprenticeship qualification content and provide developmental feedback
  • Support apprentices to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required for their programme and End Point Assessment
  • Monitor learner progress and work collaboratively with Support Coaches, employers and colleagues
  • Contribute to curriculum development and continuous improvement

What we're looking for

You'll need:

  • Relevant professional/industry experience within construction, civil engineering, quantity surveying or the wider built environment
  • A relevant construction qualification
  • A recognised Level 4 teaching qualification as a minimum – PGCE or equivalent strongly preferred
  • Experience teaching within Further Education, apprenticeships or work-based learning
  • Confidence delivering engaging teaching remotely using Microsoft Teams or similar
  • Strong communication, organisation and learner-support skills

As this is a home-based role, you'll need a suitable dedicated workspace and reliable internet connection.

What we offer

  • Home-based working with predominantly remote delivery
  • 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays
  • Two additional wellbeing days
  • Opportunity to increase annual leave through long-service recognition and our appraisal framework
  • Company pension
  • Life cover and Employee Assistance Programme
  • Established curriculum, resources and assignments
  • Dedicated learner support and EPA specialists
  • Protected preparation and administration time
  • All equipment required for the role

Although predominantly home-based, there will be occasional travel to our Head Office in Hessle, East Yorkshire for meetings, development activities and occasional delivery.

Interested?

If you're an experienced construction professional and qualified teacher who would enjoy using your knowledge to inspire apprentices at the beginning of their professional careers, we'd love to hear from you.

Come and help us develop the next generation of Quantity Surveyors, Civil Engineers, Construction Managers and Built Environment professionals.

This role involves regulated activity and is subject to an Enhanced DBS check.

Applicants must have the unrestricted right to work in the UK. Learning Skills Partnership is unable to provide sponsorship for employment visas, either now or in the future.

Pay: £36,000.00-£40,000.00 per year

Benefits:

  • Company events
  • Company pension
  • Employee discount
  • Referral programme
  • Work from home
