Full job description

We’re looking for reliable cleaners to help maintain a clean, safe and welcoming environment at our Grange Park Youth centre

Hours: 2 hrs per day - Monday - Friday (times flexible)

Successful candidates will take care of our facilities and carry out cleaning and minor maintenance duties around the sites.

Cleaning and Maintaining Facilities:

  • Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors in all areas of the center.
  • Cleaning and sanitising restrooms, showers, and common areas.
  • Wiping down surfaces such as tables, chairs, and counters.
  • Ensuring the centre kitchen is clean, tidy and all equipment stored correctly.
  • Ensure Staff room is clean, tidy and microwave and fridge are cleaned.

Waste Management:

  • Emptying bins and recycling containers throughout the center.
  • Ensuring proper disposal of waste and recycling materials.
  • Taking out bins as needed and ensuring bins are maintained.

Maintaining Cleanliness of Equipment and Furniture:

  • Ensuring sports equipment, games, and other recreational tools are clean and organized.
  • Cleaning windows, doors, and other glass surfaces.

Health and Safety:

  • Following safety protocols and ensuring cleaning supplies are stored properly.
  • Reporting any maintenance issues, such as broken furniture or equipment.
  • Ensuring the center remains free of hazards and maintains a safe environment for young people and staff.

Stocking and Replenishing Supplies:

  • Keeping cleaning supplies stocked and notifying management when more are needed.
  • Restocking toilet paper, soap, and other necessary items in the restrooms.

Communicating with Youth and Staff:

  • Interacting respectfully with youth, ensuring their safety while working.
  • Collaborating with other staff members to maintain a clean and organized environment.

Opening and Closing Duties:

  • Ensuring the center is clean and ready for use.
  • Locking up the center and ensure alarms are set when centre is not open.

The Boathouse Youth is committed to the effective Safeguarding of its Young People. This post will be recruited in accordance with the NSPCC’s guidance on safer recruitment. This includes a thorough interview, scruity of former employment, a requirement for references and an Enhanced DBS check.
