Range Control Officer (Office Coordinator)

Location

Please note we are situated in Bisley Camp, Brookwood. This is approximately 15 minute drive from Woking Town Centre, or 20 minute walk from Brookwood train station. Please ensure you have an appropriate means of transport (including Sundays).

About us

The National Rifle Association promotes target shooting throughout the UK, operating ranges and staging competitions and training courses from its idyllic base at Bisley. As ‘the home of shooting’, Bisley has a reputation for leading the way with innovative events, hosting world class competitions and delivering national training standards.

We are passionate about what we do and our enthusiasm and inspired thinking are unrivalled.

Overview

This role involves controlling and monitoring all aspects of range safety including planning, allocation, access and movement on/off or between ranges. You will be responsible for conducting the clearance procedures, including liaising with local authorities to identify daily activities and access constraints. A constant watch will be required on the communications systems to aid monitoring of all movement across site danger areas as well as shooters on ranges. As part of a team, you will have responsibility for scheduling and DE-conflicting all activities across the site.

Within the back office, you will be responsible for assisting customers with enquiries and complaints including keeping members informed of current availability. Creating and managing the online bookings will be a daily requirement, whilst ensuring all bookings are plotted safely and comply with current Range Safety rules and regulations. You will also be required to liaise closely with other departments via producing weekly requirement admin sheets, ensuring updates are provided in a timely accurate manner.

Part of the role will include identifying and engaging target marking staff and producing allocation lists whilst managing their employment (training/pay/disciplinary issues). You may be required to assist and advise the reception staff by welcoming clubs and individual members onto the ranges, and in doing so conducting checks of Membership and Shooter Certification Cards, ensuring entitlement to shoot and competency.

The ideal candidate should be engaging and energetic, and able to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the back office. The right candidate must have excellent customer service and communication skills, and the ability to deal with and resolve customer or business issues that may arise over the course of the weekend. You will be working in a busy environment, so the ability to process information quickly, and stay calm in a high-pressured environment at all times, along with a “can do/ hands on” approach is essential. The role requires a high level of attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Excellent communication in person, over the phone and in writing via email is vital.

Although ideal, no previous shooting experience required – Full training will be provided.
