Full job description

About the role:

We are a growing decorating and property improvement business delivering interior and exterior painting and decorating across a mix of residential and commercial sites (homes, offices, shops and similar environments). We’re looking for a skilled, reliable Painter & Decorator who can deliver high-quality finishes, work safely on site, and support occasional “making good” and light refurbishment tasks that sit alongside decorating work.

Key responsibilities

Prepare surfaces to a high standard (filling, sanding, caulking, lining paper where required).

Apply coatings and finishes (emulsion, satin/gloss, woodwork finishes) using brush/roller and (where competent) spraying equipment.

Carry out interior and exterior painting and decorating work depending on project requirements.

Maintain quality standards: clean lines, consistent finish, tidy masking/protection, and snag-free completion.

Protect client areas and furniture; keep work areas clean and safe.

Follow site H&S: correct PPE, safe ladder/step use, COSHH awareness for paints/solvents, good housekeeping.

Communicate progress to the supervisor/manager and report material needs.

Complete basic site records when requested (photos of progress, snag lists, materials used).

Occasional support tasks related to decorating projects (e.g., minor making-good, small patch repairs, removing/replacing basic fittings for access, sealing/finishing touches). (This keeps it painting-led without looking like a general multi-trade role.)

What we’re looking for

Essential

Proven experience as a Painter & Decorator delivering high-quality finishes.

Strong prep skills and attention to detail.

Ability to work independently or as part of a small team across multiple sites.

Good timekeeping and professional conduct in occupied properties and client environments.

Preferred

CSCS card

Full UK driving licence

Own basic tools (if applicable to how you operate)

Experience working on both residential and commercial sites

Benefits

Paid holiday + pension

Consistent pipeline of work and opportunities to progress as the company grows
