Counsellor – Self-Employed

We are seeking a qualified and compassionate Counsellors to join our team on a self-employed basis, one day per week (term time only) within a secondary school in Isleworth (TW7).

This is a unique opportunity to be part of a provision that values consistency, connection, and the power of relationships—while also recognising the importance of variety and fresh perspectives for young people.

The role centres on delivering a 1:1 therapeutic approach, providing students with a safe, confidential space where they can feel heard, understood, and supported. For some students, you may be the only trusted adult they feel able to talk to making this a deeply meaningful and impactful position.

You will support students with a range of needs, including:

  • Anxiety and low mood
  • Low self-esteem and confidence
  • Trauma and emotional regulation
  • Family and relationship difficulties
  • School-based anxiety and disengagement

While the focus is on individual sessions, there may be opportunities to facilitate small group work, where appropriate and agreed with the school, particularly where students share similar needs.

We are looking for professionals who are not only skilled and experienced, but who also bring warmth, empathy, and strong boundaries. You will play a key role in helping young people make sense of their experiences, develop resilience, and move forward in a more positive and empowered way.

You will work collaboratively with school staff, including SEND and pastoral teams, contributing to a joined-up approach that supports student wellbeing within a safe and structured framework.

Essential Requirements:

  • Recognised Counselling qualification
  • Membership with a relevant professional body (e.g. BACP preferred)
  • Enhanced DBS (on the update service) or willingness to apply
  • Counselling: 1 year (preferred)
  • Experience working with children or young people (preferred)
  • Understanding of secondary school systems (essential)

In person (Isleworth, TW7 – secondary school setting)
