About the role:

The key purpose of this role is to undertake counter fraud validation and intelligence work, particularly focusing on motor and household insurance claims. The role involves using SIRA (Syndicated Intelligence for Risk Avoidance) to identify and mitigate fraudulent activities, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and company policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Fraud Detection and Analysis: Perform proactive investigatory analysis using data and intelligence processes to deliver counter fraud referrals to the motor and household claims investigation teams. Identify new fraud trends and modus operandi through analysis of activity and fraud intelligence to inform strategy and improve performance.
  • Intelligence Management: Identify, secure, and evaluate intelligence and data sources relevant to fraud investigations. Assist in the development of a functional internal intelligence database.
  • SIRA Utilisation: Use SIRA to screen and match claims, generating referrals for both motor and household business areas. Responsibility for the upkeep of local, and input into national rules.
  • Open Source and Database Searches: Undertake open source and company-provided database searches for the validation of claims identified as requiring such research.
  • Third-Party Applications: Make applications to third parties for information in compliance with the Data Protection Act, such as Police Appendix D (b) mandates.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records of investigations and prepare detailed reports on findings.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with internal stakeholders to support the achievement of business objectives and provide required levels of support to strategies, tactics or general claims handling decisions.
  • Supplier Management: Instruct approved external suppliers with accurate and clear guidance to maximise their effectiveness.
  • Ensure that you fully understand and comply with the organisation's Risk Management Policies as they relate to your area of responsibility and demonstrate in your day to day work that you put customers at the heart of everything you do.

  • Maintain the company's compliance standards and ensure timely completion of all mandatory on-line training modules and attestations.

Key Requirements:

  • Knowledge of report writing and ability to analyse outcomes and MI is essential.
  • Knowledge of Road Traffic Act and implications of being RTA/Article 75 insurer is essential.
  • Knowledge of creating and maintaining Best Practice and guidance materials is essential.
  • Previous Demonstrable experience of working in a claims/fraud-related environment, particularly with motor and household insurance claims is essential.
  • Previous experience of fraud detection systems and processes within the insurance industry, particularly SIRA is desirable.
