Libraries - Enriching Lives and Building Community

Do you love books, information and have a passion to support people to read for pleasure to improve their wellbeing? Can you demonstrate an understanding of public library services and the vital role they play in enriching and supporting our communities?

We are looking for an enthusiastic, friendly, outgoing person to join our team at Bradford on Avon Library working 10.5 or 12.25 hours per week. Or our team at Trowbridge Library working 10.75 hours per week, to help provide a high-quality service for our customers.

As Library Assistant, you will help customers with queries, help them to find books and information and support them with basic IT for those using library computers and other library equipment. You will take part in children’s activities such as 'rhyme time' and events/activities for adults, stock work, supporting volunteers and partners, alongside other varied tasks. No two days will be the same and you’ll need to be ready to deal with the unexpected!

You will need to have at least five GCSEs, including English & Maths at grade A-C or equivalent and good use of ICT. Previous library experience is not essential as we will train you in all aspects of library work. Excellent customer service skills or the ability to demonstrate you can provide them is essential, as is a love of books.

The work patterns for these roles are:

  • Trowbridge (10.75 hours)

    Week 1 - Thursday 10:00am-1:00pm, Friday 4:30-7:00pm and Saturday 10:00am-4:00pm

    Week 2 - Wednesday 10:00am-2:00pm, Thursday 10:00am-2:00pm and Friday 4:00-7:00pm

  • Bradford-on-Avon (10.5 hours)

    Week 1 - Thursday 9:30am-2:00pm, Friday 9:30am-1:00pm and Saturday 10:00am-4:00pm

    Week 2 - Thursday 9:30am-2:00pm and Friday 9:30am-1:00pm

  • Bradford-on-Avon (12.25 hours)

    Week 1 - Wednesday 9:00am-12:00pm, Thursday 2:00-7:00pm, Friday 2:00-5:00pm and Saturday 9:00am-12:30pm

    Week 2 - Wednesday 9:00-12:00pm, Thursday 2:00-7:00pm and Friday 2:00-5:00pm
