About Timber Builds LTD

Timber Builds LTD is a growing timber construction and modular building company specialising in high-quality timber frame buildings, cabins, glamping pods, lodges, and bespoke timber structures.

We are looking for an experienced Operations Manager to take control of day-to-day operations, improve efficiency across the business, and help drive the company forward as we continue to grow.

This is a hands-on role suited to someone who is organised, practical, commercially aware, and confident managing people, production, suppliers, schedules, and site delivery.

The Role

  • As Operations Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the smooth running of the business from workshop production through to delivery and installation.
  • You will work closely with the Managing Director, workshop team, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers to make sure projects are delivered on time, to the required standard, and within budget.
  • This role requires someone who can see the bigger picture but is also willing to get involved in the detail when needed.

Key Responsibilities

  • Your responsibilities will include:
  • Managing daily operations across the workshop, yard, logistics, and site installation teams.
  • Planning and coordinating production schedules for timber buildings and modular units.
  • Ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the correct quality standard.
  • Managing staff, subcontractors, and suppliers. Improving systems, processes, and communication across the business.
  • Monitoring labour, materials, stock, and project costs. Coordinating deliveries, transport, lifting operations, and site installations.
  • Liaising with customers, suppliers, and contractors in a professional manner. Supporting health and safety compliance across workshop and site operations.
  • Identifying issues early and putting practical solutions in place.
  • Reporting regularly to the Managing Director on progress, problems, costs, and performance.

The Ideal Candidate

  • We are looking for someone who has:
  • Previous experience in an operations, production, contracts, or project management role. Experience in construction, joinery, timber frame, manufacturing, modular buildings, or a similar practical industry.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects at once.
  • Good understanding of labour planning, materials, scheduling, and cost control. A practical, no-nonsense approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong communication skills with staff, suppliers, subcontractors, and customers.
  • Confidence using basic IT systems, spreadsheets, and project planning tools.
  • A strong focus on quality, deadlines, and efficiency. A full UK driving licence.
  • Experience with timber buildings, modular construction, cabins, lodges, or off-site manufacturing would be a strong advantage.

Desirable Skills & Experience

While not essential, the following would be advantageous:

  • Experience using SketchUp, AutoCAD, or similar design and drawing software.
  • Experience producing basic design concepts, visualisations, or customer presentation drawings.
  • Knowledge of planning, building control, or timber frame detailing would be beneficial.

What We Offer

A key management role in a growing company.

Opportunity for promotion.

The opportunity to shape and improve company operations.

Competitive salary based on experience.

Long-term career opportunity.

Varied work across workshop production, site installation, and project delivery.

A practical, fast-moving working environment where good ideas are valued.
