Are you an experienced Children’s Residential Deputy Manager looking to make a life-changing impact on young people with complex needs? Do you have the passion, leadership skills and commitment to help children thrive? If so, Greenfields, part of the CareTech family, wants to hear from you.

Greenfields is part of one of the UK’s leading providers of Specialist Education, Residential Childcare and Therapeutic Services. We are undergoing an exciting period of growth and transformation, underpinned by our commitment to helping children and young people realise their potential.

Our approach combines care, education and therapy within a nurturing, stable and structured environment. Young people attend our Greenfields School in Newport, and our homes benefit from ongoing clinical input to help them grow, heal and succeed.

The Role: Deputy Manager – Children’s Residential Home

You will support the Registered Manager in running a welcoming, safe and high-quality children’s home in Abergavenny, currently supporting three young people with complex social, emotional and behavioural needs (SEMH) arising from adverse childhood experiences.

Key Responsibilities

Provide a warm, consistent, emotionally secure environment where young people can thrive
Lead, motivate and support a stable and skilled staff team
Ensure high standards of safeguarding, compliance, reporting and record-keeping
Advocate strongly for young people so their voices shape everything we do
Promote social, emotional, physical and intellectual development
Model best practice and contribute to a positive, child-centred culture

This is a hands-on leadership role requiring energy, creativity, resilience and a “can-do” approach.

Essential Requirements

Minimum 2 years’ experience in a children’s residential care setting
QCF Level 3 Children & Young People (or equivalent)
Level 5 Leadership & Management (preferred but not essential)
Previous experience as a Deputy Manager, Senior or Team Leader
Excellent communication skills with internal and external agencies
Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Driver (company car/minibus provided during shifts)
Ability to work the 2 on / 3 off shift pattern (including sleep-ins)

We are looking for someone who is:
Friendly, passionate and caring
Positive, approachable and resilient
Empowering and person-centred
Creative, innovative and solution-focused
Able to thrive in a fast-paced, emotionally rewarding environment

Benefits

Dedicated learning and development programmes
Free access to a wide range of online training courses
Free DBS check + Update Service
Free meals on shift (residential homes)
£1,000 Refer-a-Friend bonus
Pension scheme
Annual employee awards evening & recognition programmes
Company vehicle for work use

Greenfields is a unique organisation with visible, supportive leadership and staff truly committed to transforming young people’s lives. This role offers a rare opportunity to shape long-term outcomes, drive positive change and contribute to high-quality therapeutic residential care.

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of the children and young people we support. All successful applicants will undergo an Enhanced DBS and Regulated Activity check, including the barred children's list.
