The Role

We are looking to appoint an ambitious and enthusiastic Lecturer (Teaching) to our Photography team.

Central to this role is devising and delivering teaching which embeds industry practices in activities across undergraduate and postgraduate photography courses. As a Lecturer (Teaching) you will be proactive in the use of both traditional and digital tools to create relevant and contemporary outcomes across editorial, fashion and commercial spaces.

Candidates must have strong and up to date awareness of developments within industry and be enthused to work in innovative and experimental ways across our photography programmes. They will support the development of professional and globally competitive portfolios of work with our students and enhance the visibility of the school through contributing to promotional material and activities.

Candidates must be confident engaging with a variety of teaching methods and be keen to employ them in order to support the development and confidence of students. The achievement and satisfaction of our students is our top priority; candidates must be qualified (or be willing to become qualified) to teach and assess at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

Qualifications Required

Master’s degree (or with equivalent professional experience) in an appropriate subject or Honours Degree with appropriate professional qualification and/or membership
A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held
Our Successful Candidate

Our successful candidate will be dynamic, keen to continue/build an academic profile in creative arts education and experienced in the field of photography.

You will be actively engaged or have a proven track record of working within commercial practice, with the ability to enthuse and engage learners in key industry skills and contemporary applications.

Applicants should have a good understanding of the photographic industry, innovative practice and the role of photography in contemporary culture.

Experience of working within an education environment would be advantageous.

You will need to be able to demonstrate high level digital fluency and a continuing engagement with professional, scholarly and pedagogic development - those without a teaching qualification will be required to undertake Coventry University’s PGCHE or secure a HEA fellowship.
