Overview

Dock Street Vets is seeking a friendly, highly organised and client-focused Part-Time Receptionist to join our lovely team. In this vital role, you will create a welcoming environment, manage appointments, and facilitate smooth communication between clients and veterinary staff. Your proactive approach will ensure every pet receives the care they deserve while providing exceptional customer service to pet parents. This position offers an exciting opportunity to be part of a compassionate team dedicated to animal health and well-being.

Duties:

  • Greet clients and patients warmly and efficiently check in pets for appointments, surgeries, or treatments
  • Manage appointment scheduling and coordinate with veterinary staff to optimize daily workflow
  • Answer phone calls promptly, providing accurate information and scheduling assistance
  • Maintain detailed client records, update medical histories, and process payments accurately
  • Ideally manage our social media presence — planning and posting content that reflects the practice
  • Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding appointment details, follow-up care, and treatment instructions
  • Support the clinic’s organization by managing incoming and outgoing correspondence, emails, and documentation
  • Handle client relationships end-to-end, including sensitive or difficult conversations
  • Helping keep reception & consult rooms organised, welcoming, and efficient
  • Handle banking and end of day reconcilliation
  • Giving our patients lots of treats!

The ideal candidate:

  • Experience in client care, reception, or practice management — ideally in veterinary, medical, or another fast-paced service environment
  • Excellent communication skills to interact confidently with clients, team members, and vendors
  • Strong organisational abilities to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure while providing exceptional customer service
  • Computer proficiency for managing electronic health records and scheduling systems
  • A genuine love for animals
  • Someone who can be empathetic and supportive
