About You
Are you a technical person in the domestic renewables industry, or electrical /engineering graduate with a desire to learn more? Do you want to play a critical role in building the UK’s next market leader in residential solar? If so, read on!
About Sunsave
Founded in 2022, Sunsave are on a mission to make the power of decentralised energy accessible to every household in the UK. We're the first company in the UK to offer an FCA-authorised solar subscription service - a model that's been very successful in places like Germany and the US.
70% of people in the UK are interested in solar, and our model removes the biggest barrier to adoption - the ~£10k typical upfront cost and long payback period - so customers can save on their energy bills from day one. We offer an all-in-one subscription that includes finance, installation, monitoring and maintenance, really helping customers get the most out of their systems.
We have grown extremely fast, and still we are only just getting started!
About the Role
As a Technical Associate at Sunsave, you will be responsible for planning and supporting the delivery of residential solar installations through our installation partners. You will be a technical expert within Sunsave’s Operations Team, supporting team members coordinating installation projects and providing escalated technical support for installed customers.
As a Solar Technical Associate, you will:
- Become a subject matter expert on solar and battery storage installation, reviewing and signing off solar designs and answering challenging technical queries from the sales team.
- Conduct surveys of Sunsave’s customer properties to assess feasibility for installation of solar and other renewable tech.
- Use information from Sunsave’s remote surveys to create outline installation plans and communicate these to installers.
- Provide your expertise to support the Customer Operations team when handling technical queries from customers, before and after installation.
- Be able to work at Sunsave’s HQ in central London 4 days per week, with one day working from home.
This is primarily a desk-based role, however, there will be opportunities for you to travel to site and even get on the tools occasionally if this is something you want to do.
Where this can lead
This is a junior role with real scope to grow as the company grows. We’ll support you with developing your skills, both technical and management, funding relevant training where this is beneficial for your progression.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- You are a team player, willing to get stuck in and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
- You hold Electrical Installation /Electrical Engineering Level 2 and Level 3 Qualifications and/or electrical engineering university degree / relevant technical qualification, or have direct experience surveying and completing domestic solar installations.
- Knowledge of, or an interest in Solar PV, Battery, EV charger, and Heat Pump installations.
- Ability to work with a diverse range of team members, communicate effectively, and work independently where needed.
Desirable but not required (upskill training can be offered):
- IET 18th Edition (BS7671) Level 3
- Experience with solar, EV charging or heat pump installations, and solar design software (e.g. one of OpenSolar, PVSol, PVSyst, etc)
If you don’t feel your skills/experience fulfill all of the brief above, or you feel you’re over-qualified for the role, but would be a great fit for us, please apply! We’re a flexible employer looking for the right person, rather than the perfect CV.
