Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced room Leader. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising staff, ensuring the safety and well-being of children, and maintaining high standards of childcare. This role offers an opportunity to lead a team in a nurturing environment, supporting early childhood development and fostering positive experiences for children and their families.
Responsibilities
- Supervise and support team members during your shift, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures
- Oversee the daily activities of children, ensuring their safety, engagement, and developmental needs are met
- Coordinate with staff to plan and implement age-appropriate educational activities and play sessions
- Communicate effectively with parents or guardians regarding children’s progress and any concerns
- Ensure the cleanliness, organisation, and safety of the nursery environment at all times
- Manage administrative tasks such as attendance records and daily reports
- Assist with onboarding new staff members and provide ongoing support and training as needed
- Handle any behavioural issues or emergencies promptly and professionally
- Maintain compliance with health and safety regulations, including child safeguarding protocols
Requirements
- Strong understanding of early childhood education principles and child development stages
- Experience working with children, ideally in nursery or preschool environments
- Excellent communication skills in English, both verbal and written
- Ability to lead a team effectively while fostering a positive working environment
- Childcare qualifications L3 or above or relevant early childhood education certifications.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and handle sensitive situations with professionalism

Pay: £24,300.00-£24,440.00 per year
