The Opportunity

Almac Diagnostics Services is responsible for delivering high-quality clinical testing services within a highly regulated laboratory environment. We are pleased to offer an opportunity for Clinical Testing Personnel to join our team in Craigavon, supporting the accurate processing, testing and reporting of patient specimens.

In this role, you will carry out clinical laboratory testing in line with approved procedures, quality standards and regulatory requirements. You will play an important part in ensuring specimens are handled correctly, test results are reported accurately, and all records are maintained to the required standard.

Working as part of a supportive laboratory team, you will follow established procedures for specimen processing, test analysis, quality control, equipment calibration and documentation. You will also be responsible for recognising and escalating any issues that may impact test performance or the reporting of results, ensuring appropriate corrective actions are recorded and communicated.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Processing specimens and performing authorised clinical laboratory tests in line with approved procedures.
  • Maintaining accurate records of patient test results, quality control activity, calibrations and maintenance.
  • Following laboratory procedures when test systems fall outside acceptable performance levels.
  • Identifying, correcting and documenting issues that may affect test performance or result reporting.
  • Completing testing only within areas where you have the appropriate education, training, experience and authorisation.
  • Working under the required level of supervision in line with laboratory and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensuring all work is completed in compliance with internal procedures and applicable standards including ISO 15189, GCP, CAP and CLIA.

What you need to be successful

To be considered for this opportunity, we are looking for candidates who can demonstrate the relevant scientific knowledge, attention to detail and commitment to quality required to work in a regulated clinical testing laboratory.

Essential criteria include:

  • A Bachelors degree, or equivalent qualification, in Biomedical Science, Biology, Molecular Biology or a related life sciences discipline.
  • Previous laboratory experience and/or training in molecular biology technologies.
  • A strong ability to maintain a high level of accuracy in all work undertaken.
  • The ability to organise, plan and prioritise tasks within a varied and high-volume workload.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.

Desirable criteria include:

  • HCPC registration as a Biomedical Scientist, or equivalent.
  • Practical experience performing high complexity molecular testing within a regulated clinical testing environment.
