About the Role

We are seeking a motivated AAT Apprentice Accountant to join our growing accountancy practice in Hertford. This role combines hands-on accounting work, client interaction and cloud accounting technology

Salary: £17,000 for the first 12 months, raising to the national minimum wage after

Working hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00 to 17:00, 35 hours per week

Key Responsibilities

• Reconcile bank transactions using cloud accounting software.
• Review and process invoices, receipts and financial records using digital document management systems.
• Assist with bookkeeping for a variety of clients.
• Support the preparation of VAT and MTD returns and management accounts.
• Help prepare year-end accounts and working papers.
• Assist with payroll processing and payroll journals.
• Respond to client queries by email and telephone in a professional manner.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with firm procedures.
• Support senior accountants with ad-hoc assignments and client projects.

• FAPS - Preparing Financical Statements
• MATS - Management Accounting Techniques
• TPFB - Tax Processes for Businesses
• BUAW - Business Awareness

Training is via our live online learning portal, typically one day a week. Support by a qualified tutor and work coach to ensure successful completion of your apprenticeship.

What is the expected career progression after this apprenticeship?

After successfully achieving the AAT Level 3 qualification, the candidate will be considered for the Level 4 AAT Apprenticeship training and/or the opportunity to progress to a more senior level with the firm and a career within accountancy.
